First, I was joking, second, this is what that error message looks like on a 2014 when the shifter fails (which also disables your ability to shut off the engine);

The paddle shifters will turn into triggers for the turret and the surface-to-air missiles, both of which are to be mounted on the roof, when switched into "Destroy" mode via the Selec-Terrain dial. "Destroy" mode will also raise the suspension 12 inches and deploy 2 more wheels, turning the JGC into a 6x6. Rumor is the turret and missiles will be also be able to be controlled via the UConnect App and Voice Control.

Sorry to state the obvious, however, it does appear that some people did think he was serious. Gotta love Milous.

lol I hear you. I like the stalk better. Its right under your hands without taking them off the wheel but still out of the way and rocking the vehicle with push buttons isn't as easy and natural as it is with the column shifter. You could use either a push or pull when in drive (as a lot of headlight high beams use for high/low beam) to throw it into sport, put a button on it or at the end of it or elsewhere for sport, lots of options that are all right under your fingertips yet out of the way and not consuming dash or console space.

Fashion moved the shifter to the center console with automatics. The older guys know this and I take it from your tone you do (whether young or old) but I'm not sure that the younger ones do. For you younger gents it had no other purpose when the cable operated shifters typically used worked just as well from either location and putting it in the floor or on a center console served only to use up space. But you looked cooler...

Now we have added CAFE and the need to reduce weight to greed and fashion in dictating the location and kind of shifters. That makes push button, dial, etc shifters very attractive even if they are less useful and ergonomic that a standard column mount. Plus if you get it off the steering column you don't have to add it the the massive cost of crash testing. Another win for everyone but the people who have to drive them.

I'm not sounding cynical am I? I would hate to sound cynical...

That would be the Jeep Grand Cherokee Transformer Edition... But you missed the feature where you push that little unlabeled button and it then starts to walk upright.

MB uses a cheap looking stalk sticking out of the steering column for the shifter. But I guess if its good enough for the new 2014 S Class, its certainly good enough for the lesser models. I don't like it, but it does the job.

You know what's funny about that statement is, if someone put a 6.4 hemi in a Durango, it would essentially be a Dodge Grand Caravan SRT without sliding doors.. lol

Please tell us you shopped that, and did not actually get that message.

I presumed you were kidding...or had never actually used UConnect.

Definitely NOT Photochopped, and yeah, I was joking about an app-based shifter.

As for the shifter error, imagine being stuck in Drive with an engine that won't shut off.
