I agree with the space saving, I just think it's awkward. Every 14' I have test drove I've just felt it's been a little strange. I think it's great for the space it saves. I also know I could used to it. I'd just have buy one to spend more time with it With that being said, and with the 17's getting closer a whole new shifter will probably be implemented. If I can suppress my "want" for those cool headlights on the 14's, I'm going to hold off for a 17.

Milous , are you going to be starting a new section soon for the "my17 WL"

Ever installed a driveshaft??? Not torquing to spec was the problem and why it failed at the rear diff.

Have you test driven a Ram with the knob? I am thinking combining the shift knob with the select terrain knob ie one on top of the other or one inside the other might be interesting. Its all electronic with no linkage. Lets also hope they get rid of the emergency foot brake and go to something electronic or at least a fake handbrake.

I think the point is you don't know why it failed and it likely had little to do with the installation.

Took me one day to get used to the 14 shifter coming from a 2012; it's a non issue (for me) and I prefer it over the old one.

No I know why it failed and it was faulty installation.

Re: Changes for 2015?

How's about a custom paint and interior program for 2015? Like BMW's individual program. Maybe for 2017? Bring back rich corinthian leather too.

I hate space saving tyres and rims and its nothing to do with saving space or weight
Its to do with dollars
the so called space saving full size spare provided by Jeep in the GC is a 245 where as the full size standard tyre on mine is a 265 but the spare is a steel rim which is much heavier than a standard allo rim

Re: Changes for 2015?

I wish for 2015 that as part of the advanced technology package that a Heads Up Display would be offered.

I also wish that the H/K sound system was offered as an upgrade available in the Overland. I am planning on getting a 2015 when my lease is up and I prefer the looks of the overland, but I will choose the summit strickly to get the sound system.

I have to say towing with the Jeep is not as good as i thought it would be
The jeep appears due to its mass very twitchy when towing it is not as planted on the road

So i would agree if Jeep looses too much mass then towing a 3 ton caravan would be suicidal.
What size wheels and tires are you running? I'm guessing you have the 18's? Some lower profile tires might improve handling. Higher sidewalls can allow squirm side-to-side from the trailer pushing on the back end. Just a thought.

A $5,000 aftermarket stereo will sound a hell of a lot better than the HK system in the Summit.

Get your overland and upgrade! I much preferred the look of the Overland over the Summit as well.

An installation problem is rather unlikely. I'm not sure who told him that but it's likely BS. If you've ever seen the assembly process the bolt torque for things like this is done by specialized tools that do it automatically. It's either torqued down to spec (usually all the bolts at once) or the bolts aren't installed at all. There isn't any half or part-way about it.

In addition, Improper driveshaft-to-flange bolt torque wouldn't cause a "driveshaft failure." If too tight, the bolts might fracture. If too loose, they might back out. Either case results in a driveshaft flailing around under the vehicle and causing far more damage than a replacement driveshaft alone would correct.
