Re: Changes for 2015?

My girlfriend wanted to go to the Buick/GMC dealership to check out an Encore. Just so happens that they had just gotten in a new Yukon Denali. They also had the SLT but I wanted to take the Denali for a spin. So I inquired and the sales rep happily indulged me. Amazing what GM has done in terms of limiting cabin noise. That is the quietest vehicle I have ever driven in. My GC is now second. The Denali is an impressive truck, not sure if it's $75K impressive, but impressive nonetheless.

I'll take a little less insulation and keep the 25k in my pocket.

I'll take a little less insulation and keep the extra 25-30k in my pocket.

There's a lot more to that truck than just insulation. I am no fan of GMC, in fact I've never even considered one of their products before. But the new Denali is really a nice truck.

Yes it is but the price has grown as much as its gross weight.

I am old-school. I LIKE heavier vehicles. I feel much safer. This whole movement towards lighter-weight, higher MPG cars is directly a result of the Commies running our government. They want to force us into rolling death-traps. I loathe them all. This country has never seen a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Oh please. Can we keep the ridiculous political hyperbole out of Jeep discussions? Geez.

We now return to your regularly scheduled program...

So, what color Denali did you test drive?

Re: Changes for 2015?

They had quite a few SLT's on the lot in various colors. Champagne Silver Metallic was my favorite. The Denali was black. It was OK, but too hearse-like IMO.

Very few dealerships have the Denali. There is only one in my immediate area that has one. I actually like the front grille of the SLT better. Anyway, that price point is significant, but the Yukon is a lot of truck. They tuned the engine for 2015 and it hauls (the Denali has the 6.2). For me, there is more value in the GC all day long (esp. Overland or Summit trims), assuming you only need to seat 5. Anyone who needs more capacity from an occupant (and tow) perspective can either go with trucks like the Armada or Sequoia, which simply can't compete in terms of technology, or the GM offerings. There's the Durango too and the minivans. Cross-overs like the Acadia, Envoy and Traverse don't really do it for me. I hate those.

Why would anyone spend 75 on a Yukon? It's a common vehicle in my opinion. I'm guessing that customer base hasn't seen the redesigned escalades. Now that is an impressive vehicle. The new body style is incredible and the interior is second to none. The headlights are the coolest I've ever seen. I'd pay 75 for a escalade if I was in the market for a third row SUV and didn't mind paying that kind of money, but never for a Yukon, never under any circumstances. Someone at GMC is drunk. The Tahoe is just as bad...

I guess that's how you pay back a bailout-add 20k to the actual sticker price and train your salespeople to not start laughing when they close a sale on one....

It's still the typical GM boring styling. To me those trucks have looked the same for the past 30 years.
