Yes, however, the lights and surrounds differ, a possible indication of what the rest of the My 15 may look like....

Re: Changes for 2015?

Oh good. Now we can have the "how many speeds does your transmission have" wars. Seriously...as far as discrete-shifting transmissions, 8 speeds is more than enough. Nine is pretty gimmicky. Anything above 9 will be a case of diminished returns.

Remember...with more speeds you can tune gear ratios better, but you also spend more time "in the shift" which can hurt performance. I think we are about there when it comes to getting better performance without reaching the "in the shift" wall of pain.

In the end, marketing will dictate.

How many pixels should a camera have. Today they are overloading small chips which actually causes a degradation in the image. Then they use more powerful algorithms in post processing to correct for the degradation. But most folks want more pixels.

The same will continue with transmissions. We'll have 13 speed transmissions with 42 computers trying to make them work. And, people will clamor to have more speeds than their neighbor.

Re: Changes for 2015?

Can't speak for the other JGC's but for the SRT I think the 5-speed is quite sufficient. I wouldn't mind a 'Core' Jeep SRT with minimum creature comforts like A/C, a USB socket and maybe SatNav.

It's a muscle car at the end of the day, all you need is a seat to plant your ass in, a tranny, a big V8.... and lots of fuel.

Not that I'm gonna give up my power Sepia ventilated leather seats or all the gadgets anytime soon though...

Last I checked this is a jeep forum, that is a Mercedes transmission. Yes the nag was a Mercedes trans but that was used long after it should have been.
The JEEP 9 speed is a fwd transmission not rwd, therefor impossible to use in a rwd vehicle.

Totally true Bill. It's ridiculous but I suspect you're right...it'll happen. It'll be amusing when people start saying "I just feel like it's always shifting. Like every second or so."

I'll go out on a limb and guess that is why the poster said, "World's First".

If Jeep's nine speed could go in a rear wheel drive vehicle, than the one mentioned would be "The World's Second".
