I stumbled on this on ebay earlier... Big "O" Dodge in Greenville, South Carolina says they will order any Jeep for Invoice AND give ALL of the holdback back...They do have a "dealer fee" of $299, but if you are in the area it may be worth a look. Shipping to me was only $400, which would still be a decent amount cheaper than I have been able to get here in Cleveland.

My dealer was willing to give me invoice + $500. It doesn't hurt my feelings that they are making a profit on the holdback - they have expenses, employees, etc. and they have to keep the place running somehow.

To me it wouldn't be worth the hassle of ordering from a dealer so far away. But, if you go this route, please let us know how it goes.

No, I am with you on that. I was just putting this here in case someone was around there or having problems getting a decent deal. It would have to be a LOT cheaper for me to deal with a dealer 1000 miles away. Im perfectly happy letting a local guy make a bit of money off me. Heck, they have to feed their kids too.

I am not sure how they are making there money, else they just want to increase sales. If you have to resort to ebay to practically give something away... It says something about that dealership. Why not advertise like crazy in the local region?

They could hope most people finance, thats where they make some money too by tacking on a point or two on the interest rate..

Yeah, Thats what I was thinking. They get an origination fee on all loans (typically around 1% of financed amount regardless of rate), and I know that dealerships sometimes get a "volume bonus." Maybe they are trying to use ebay to increase volume and get some type of bonus....But with the "dealer fee" they charge and financing fees, they are making a little on each car.
