Took my jeep through the front yard today, heard a pop and the check engine light came on.
Now the jeep kind of makes a moaning noise and seems to slightly struggle to shift from first to second and second to third. Also, cruise control won't turn on.
Auto start also has been affected as well, it will auto start but shuts off on it's own after about 10 seconds.
Anybody have any thoughts?
It's scheduled to be looked at by the dealer as soon as they have an opening....damn this sucks!
Remote start on most cars is disabled if the computer finds a fault, looks like it disables cruise too. The weird shifting and sluggish are probably just a fail safe mode the computer kicks into when it detects certain issues. Could be and hopefully is just a minor issue that is throwing the right code(s) for the computer to lock things down. As long as the light isn't flashing (misfire) damage is probably not being done but I'd still drive it as little as possible.
Check your oil level and tranny fluid, top them off if needed before you bring it to the dealer! Hopefully it will be something minor but it doesn't sound good from here.
Thanks, I'll check the fluid early am. Wish me luck. I'm kinda glad to hear that the CPU is causing the auto start and cruise issues. At least I hope it is. I'll keep ya posted. Going in for service on Thursday. Pray for my girl!!!!!
The oil is very low as are other fluid levels. Taking it to get oil changed today and other fluids topped off. I have no idea how the oil got so low after 4k miles since last change. Wow.
jeep dealer cleared codes and updated radio for bluetooth issues connecting to iphone 4. all is well, jeep seems to be running harder than before, actually. Also, MPG's seem to have gone up by about 2 mpg.
Radio works like a charm now, soooooooo happy.
