Thanks Dan, it would be good to see if he had the trim installed.

Re: Check your hood gasket

Hate to admit it, but this thread got me to pop my hood for the first time to check on this item (it was there). When I opened the hood I noticed that the plastic "5.7 HEMI" hood was knocked ajar. I studied the underside of it before replacing it to see how it would attach, but it seems to just sit atop 4 stout plastic pylon nubs, with a cutout for the dipstick. I tried tapping and then used a more forceful punch to get it to click into place but didn't want to go overboard.

Is this normal for it to just sit there with a gravity fit? That didn't seem right to me unless the closed hood keeps it in place (but if that's the case, it doesn't explain why mine was ajar). I did visually verify that I had it aligned correctly before trying to punch it down on the pylons. Advice?

HAHA no good job on your post reminding people. Mine was geared to the posts asking if it is suppose to be on both sides, I think that has been discussed on 10+ posts.

Re: Check your hood gasket

My Larado and Limited are both missing the rubber strip on the drivers side, I thought about this as you can see the salt from the road going into the plastic intake.

Re: Check your hood gasket

I'll have to take them in, then convince them that they actually belong on there. Maybe I'll ask them about the LED's in the door pockets on my Larado X that don't work to while I'm at it. Sadly what will happen is that I will go through all this, get stuck driving some POS PT cruiser for the day and pick it up and they tell me they couldn't find anything and there is not such stripping under the hood. Sorry if I sound synical....

Re: Check your hood gasket

Jeep refers to this $7.95 part as a "Snow Blocker".

You are on the right track, it's held on with only the four posts, BUT, first, you need to remove the oil filler cap, "punch" the turtle shell cover on, then replace the oil cap.
...... yes, the oil cap ALSO holds down the cover.

Sorry I didn't see you post earlier.

Yep. They tried to tell me that. I looked at several new ones on the lot before I left, to make sure they had them, just for that reason.

Re: Check your hood gasket

Wife took the Limited to te dealer, they didn't know anything about the strip. She gave them the part number and they looked it up and ordered 2 for both trucks. If she hadn't given them the part number it would have resulted in another "discussion"
