I talked to Randy a few weeks ago to see how things were going and it did sound like he was still offering the 4%. Give him a call to double check.

Re: Chicago Area Group Buy

Contact Renesis07 - he works for the dealership. I believe they do 3% under invoice.

Certainly go wherever you may please BUT I chose them not only due to the phenomenal sales experience but more importantly for their service managers and the overall customer service. And let's face it $450 is not that much at the end of the day...And I surely don't know about you, but I am not going to drive 140 miles (from Chicago) to service my car in Wisconsin... But then again, maybe you do live in Milwaukee and Randy in Sheboygan is not only offering a better deal but he is also more conveniently positioned geographically.

Just cuz you buy the vehicle from a certain dealer doesn't mean you have to have it serviced there, you know that. Randy is over an hour away from me and I have 2 Jeep dealers here in town that I go to. They didn't have the great sales staff here but the service dept is great. I'm not trying to start anything with this comment, just saying.

I'll take 450 if anyone doesn't want it. That's a years worth of oil changes or other maintenance so I guess it depends on how you view it.

To each their own. I have a Jeep dealership 1.5 miles away; I can walk home on a nice day, if I had to drop the car for service. The same goes for the Subaru (even though they sold me two cars). I avoid both dealerships these days like EBOLA.

I am sure that Randy offers a fantastic deal, many people purchased from him and I think his dealership should be mentioned at the top of this thread (as should Hawk), for a quick future reference. Competition and choices are a good thing.

That being said, I would personally not choose a dealership 3 hours / 150 miles away (from Chicago mind you) over a 1%. I end up losing nearly half of that amount in gasoline plus the time and the aggravation with the I-94 widening project in Wisconsin. Besides, I am the type of person who likes to cultivate a "relationship" with a certain business, especially when the feedback is positive to a paying customer.

Sorry but I have to laugh...Looking back to last years comments you posted that you were dealer loyal as long as good as the deal was good. I'm just giving you grief...I don't care who people buy from as long as they get a good deal and treated like they are a valued customer.

Re: Chicago Area Group Buy

I'm not in the business of bad mouthing other dealerships, so I hope this post doesn't in anyway seem negative towards purchasing from Randy at Sheyboygan or any of these other dealerships I read about on the boards that are offering insane discounts.

We all have the same costs, invoices, holdbacks, etc. Some dealerships elect to dip a little below cost in hopes of making it up when they hit their new car number, and that's fine and nothing new to the industry. We offer 3% below invoice which 9/10 times brings the price down to dead cost, which is an outstanding deal to the customer and a fair deal to the Dealership assuming we make back a couple hundred dollars when we hit our number and an acceptable deal if we don't. There's no hidden costs or stipulations to the 3% discount, you simply take invoice x .03 and that's your price. Plus tax, title, license, and doc.

If one wishes to drive hours out of their way to save a hundred or two after fuel expense, that is their right and I respect that. However with my numbers I always am up front and have zero issue proving that I am selling the truck at what I say I'm selling it at. I don't have the time or really motivation to debunk how they can offer 4-5% below invoice however I think I remember reading one of these magical dealers is inflating their doc fee or withholding destination or something along those lines. Whether that's the case or not really isn't relevant, a 'good deal' is perception from the customer.

I think the point that Bogdan was trying to make (which I appreciate the kind words) is that there is more (to some people) that goes into buying a car than just the discount. When it comes down to saving $100 - $400 more, in a lot of cases the simple inconvenience of driving hours out of your way and not having that same contact locally will sway people to buy local. I can say that whenever Bogdan comes here I walk with him to parts to make sure he's getting my discount on them, I've been here to answer countless questions for him, and have taken care of any customer he's sent over to me whether they were a JG customer or not. I respect if that's not a $100 - $450 value to people, but I can say I offer that to JG customers and those customers who are local always have me here for their friends and family.

That being said, 3% below invoice + Tax, Title, License, and Doc is still available and valid on non-SRT Grand Cherokees.

Re: Chicago Area Group Buy

With all dealers you have to watch what they're doing and the bottom line to make sure the deal they offer is the one you're getting. The issue where the destination charge was inflated was easily and quickly fixed after it was discovered. The group that's getting 7% off invoice is excellent and obviously legit because of the many purchases completed there because if it wasn't we here would all know about it. The dealers have many incentives to hit their mark and make money along with money back from the factory so as long as the dealer is upfront and the buyer is well informed before going into make the purchase..it should all work out for everyone's benefit.

Very good post. We bought our Jeep locally although we could saved about $500 by buying in Southern California. That decision has paid itself back many times over in just a few months as our Jeep has spent over three weeks at the dealership for various issues. Our dealer got us a 300C and a loaded Durango as loaners during that period and has otherwise treated us well. Would they have done the same for a customer that hadn't purchased at their dealership? I'd like to think so but the reality is probably not.
