Chicago MPG's

Thinking about pulling the trigger, but I was wondering what type of mileage members have been getting with Chicago's blended fuel? Thanks in advance.

Re: Chicago MPG's

Chicago's blended fuel is best used for paint thinner; it is pathetic. On Windy City area fuels fill ups, I've been getting at WORST 14mpg in lost of rush hour crawling along clogged arterial roads with the AC on. A 4cyl Audi I once had did about 18mpg in the same condition, so no worries. If I have Wisconin-purchased fuel, it is 16-17mpg under the same conditions. On the highway I distinctly notice a nearly 4mpg drop in highway fuel economy versus when filling up in Wisconsin (20.5mpg vs 24mpg) in the summer with AC on and typical 60-65mph highway speeds. Either way, the Hemi is exceedingly good on fuel given what it is: full-time 4WD, big V8, 5000+ lb SUV. As a side note, the "special" blend of fuel required for the Chicago area is why we pay $.80/gal more than the rest of the country for gasoline and for questionable benefit.

Re: Chicago MPG's

Thanks for the reply, I currently have an F150 that is always around 15, no matter what I do. I drive alot so any increase in mileage would help. Best I can do heading to Northwoods is 16.

Re: Chicago MPG's

Getting just over 18mpg with V6. Commute is ~70% stop and go and ~30% 60-80mph when the traffic lets me (Oakbrook to Evanston via 294 & Dempster). I drove like a grandma for a week just to see what would happen and got around 21 mpg. THis is with with Costco regular unleaded.
