Chime- Key fob missing

Anybody know how I can deactivate the chime that sounds if the key fob leaves the running vehicle?

It sure is annoying to open the door for my wife only to find that when I get in on my side, she's been sitting there listening to "the chime"

I cannot find a setting for it in the 8.4, cannot find a reference in the manual, and cannot find anything online.

No....I am not wanting to program the fob.

I'm wanting to tell the JEEP to stfu when the fob is not inside the vehicle.

Any ideas?

Thx

V.

Re: Chime- Key fob missing

If you can not find any other solution, and you are really concerned for your wife, shut the car off.

Re: Chime- Key fob missing

This post makes me think of a few things. They are...

1) Possible solution. Exit the vehicle and leave the keys with her.
2) Possible solution. Crack open the windows, turn off the Jeep and keep the keys.
3) Possible solution. Turn off the Jeep, exit the vehicle. Remote start from outside. Be back before the engine turns off from time-out.
4) Possible solution. Invite her into the bar to drink with you!

#4 reminds me of joke. A man comes home from work every night. Has dinner then grabs his coat and heads out to the local pub. Tells his wife "don't wait up for me." She long ago gave up asking to join him. One night after dinner, he says "Put on your coat, I am heading for the pub." She was ecstatic, put on her coat and followed him out the door. On the front stoop, he turned around and said "Where the heck do you think you are going?" She replied "To the pub with you!" He said, "The heck you are, I told you to put on your coat because I turned off the furnace. You are staying home."

Which leads me to the last joke. A man drives to the mall with his wife and dog. Parks the car and locks them both in the trunk. After shopping for 2 hours he returns tho the car and opens the trunk. Who in the trunk is happy to see him?

Good luck with whatever solution you employ.

Paul

Re: Chime- Key fob missing

If I recall, there was a thread out here a while back with a procedure for deactivating that chime. You'll have to search for it.

Re: Chime- Key fob missing

If you have two FOB's, couldn't you just hide one inside the Jeep somewhere? That might work??? Or put a FOB on your wife's keyring or purse?

Then I think you have to lock the Jeep 3 times every time you want to lock the doors. The fob in the car should keep the drivers door from being locked accidentally with the fob in the vehicle.

Didn't someone out here say a while back that it is possible to lock the fob in the car, because they actually did so?

Re: Chime- Key fob missing

2nd set of keys in wife's purse best option, unless you are afraid she might drive your jeep

Re: Chime- Key fob missing

The Chime is a Safety / Security feature that can not be easily deactivated.

And leaving a key fob inside the vehicle all the time is stupid because it significantly increases the risk of it being stolen and makes doing so much easier.
