Jeep is assembled in US made but all over the world. Paint and electronics in Japan, I recall seeing moose's OEM speakers saying made in China. Steel made in US.
Interesting there was one mention of quality control further back. I can tell you that the Chinese factories are very strict and and QC is very high. They certainly wouldn't have drunk stoners working in the factory
. (Funny how a minority can tarnish a reputation).
I'd say practically the Jefferson Assembly plant would continue to build North American vehicles but having a second factory tooled up for foreign markets incl china makes good sense especially when a lot of the components originate in Asia. China has the biggest growth in vehicle ownership per capita. It would also mean down under we wouldn't be faced with 4 month delivery turnaround.
