Choose only one mod

If you could only choose one which one would it be?
1) Magnaflow exhaust kit. Or
2) CAI (when one comes out)
Which one would provide better performance of the two?

Re: Choose only one mod

what about "3" none of the above but forced to pick one I would go with the exhaust. The factory system is very muted for a good V8.

Either mod will not net any real performance gains. At best it would be 8-10 HP at the crank. That's a very minor amount performance vs. dollars spent. Perhaps if/when the 5.7 Hemi tune is available that would be worth the $$$.

Ok so I guess I'll just leave it alone then. I did put a K&N drop in air filter in. Don't know if it's psychological or what but I think it has a lil more pep.

Since performance gains are about the same, I'd say wait for the MOPAR CAI and get that. At least that is a genuine MOPAR part that would be covered by the warranty as long as you have a dealership do the install. Just a consideration.

As a standalone mod any CAI will have minimal gains that will not translate into better performance. I usually would be combined with ECU tuning to account for the added air. In it's current state the 5.7 Hemi, while having potential for more, is restricted by the programming. I suspect this is done to enhance the fuel economy.

I have gone through the modification process on several past vehicles. Spending $$$ on exhaust systems, CAI, throttle-bodies, short-shift kits, etc all under the cause of better performance. While the overall package gave me that, in the end it was better to pay for the next model up or invest the money.

Aside from considering a winter tire/rim setup, I will be keeping my Overland stock. I might consider upgrading to the SRT8 at the mid-cycle refresh.

Regards,
NHman

I'll vote for #1 and even if the performance isn't better it will sound faster

Hopefully we can hook up a chip to this engine soon
