Chrome door moulding mods

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee and looking to do something with the chrome door mouldings. Thought about blacking out the letters with paint or dip. I like the protection the moulding provides. My question is, does anyone know if the blacked out letters Mopar sells will fit into my recessed letters on my door strip? Thanks in advance. Al

Not sure about the letters fitting, are you talking about the letters that the 2014's+ have on their doors? What color is your JGC?

Mine is silver. I do like a little a chrome on my Jeep. Yea looking for the right size and font of letter that may fit into those recessed letters regardless of the year. Thanks Al

Re: Chrome door moulding mods

Does anyone else have any input if the blacked out grand cherokee letters will fit into the recessed letters on my door molding strip? I saw someone painted theirs but I am concerned about them chipping off later down the road. The letters are so small I don't think I can get any sandpaper inside them to roughen up the surface to make the paint stick very good. Maybe wipe down the recessed letters with a chemical? Thanks Al

I don't think they would fit due to them being the same size if that makes sense. The black ones would probably stick out from the molding. Maybe super glue a piece of sandpaper the same size as the top of an eraser pencil and try to sand it down that way...?

The letters are smaller than molding letters
