Clear Bra Advice?

I'm awaiting arrival of my 2014 Limited, and am looking into getting a clear bra. I'm coming from a Kia Optima which I never had a clear bra on, and it's got a decent amount of rock chips on the bumper. This is the most expensive vehicle I ever bought so I want to keep it as nice as possible lol (It cost me twice the price of my old car!)

1) Recomendations on which clear bra to get? I've seen both 3M and Xpel mentioned. Anyone have experience with both on the grand cherokee?

2) How much protection to get? From what I've read, most people get the fenders, bumper, and 18" of the hood covered. Any other suggestions?

3) Price? A quick search online showed me quotes of about $1500 for xpel for the above mentioned covered. Is that too much or what should I be looking to spend?

4) last but not least, any Recomendations for an installer in North Jersey?

Thanks guys! Looking forward to spending my time on this forum like I did on the optima forums

maybe it's more in NJ but in Boston I got quotes from about 800-1000 for expel. ended up going with full bumper, headlights fenders and rocker panels for 900.

Re: Clear Bra Advice?

If you want the paint to look like new for years to come, get the clearbra installed. I've had the 3M product on my last three vehicles...worth every penny if you are picky like me and like keeping your vehicle looking like new.

I had the front nose (including 1 ft up on the hood) done for $500 at the dealership I bought the vehicle at. Took them a couple tries though since the template for the 2014 was so new.

Detailer Domain is in northern Jersey. I don't know his prices but I see their postings all over message boards showing the great work they do.
I just got a quote for a full paint correction and it was not the cheapest but along the lines of what I expected.

They use Xpel not sure their pricing. Send a message to them and they can give you a quote.

BTW - I was quoted $500 for my Maxima back in 2010 for 1/4 hood and fenders, front bumper and headlights/fog lights. They used 3M and were on Long Island.

Re: Clear Bra Advice?

Drove my 2014 Jeep GC (Black/Black, 3.6 L, Limited) directly from the dealer to the auto spa here in central Ohio to have this done. I had the front bumper, grill and only about 3 inches of the front of the hood covered. Because the edge follows the hood contour, the seam is barely noticeable. I saw other cars there that had the protection applied farther up the hood about 12 inches but there was a noticeable seam that I didn't like. I paid less than $500. and it looks great. I believe that it was the 3M product. Do it.

Full bumper and 12" of the hood done for $500. Mirrors were also included in the price, but I asked them not to do them seeing I have chrome.

Anything too far over $500-$600 is pretty ridiculous...

Mine, as well as any reputable installer, also guaranteed it for life against yellowing and peeling.

Won't help you, but Got mine done at Driven Perfection in Weymouth, MA.

I reread the posts about $1,000+ installs, and they're covering fenders, rear bumpers, quarter panels, door handles...etc.

but OP...if you're just looking for frond end protection, you shouldn't have to spend over $500

Re: Clear Bra Advice?

Installed a clear bra on the hood/bumpers and leading edge of fenders on my M-B Sprinter for $240. Easy installation as long as you have a helper. Was quoted $1400 by local installer for the same thing.

Not in your neck of the woods so can't recommend anyone. However, from my perspective a clear bra is a MUST especially if you live in an area where it snows ( think sand and pebble sand blasting) and you drive on a highway. In other words, get it.

I paid in the neigborhood of $800 for my Summit ( bumper, hood, pillars, door handles and above windshield). I don't regret one penny of it as I obsess over every chip and ding n my cars . I think some people recommended DIY, but honestly I just don't have the patience or skill to do it myself. the nice thing about having a pro do it is that it comes with a lifetime warrantly which my installer provides.

Good luck my friend!
