Clicking noise when coming to a stop??

Have any of you guys had this problem? My 2014 Limited makes a pretty loud clicking noise when coming to a stop. I don't hear it with the windows up, just when the windows are down. It happens every...single...time. The noise seems to come from the front of the car, maybe on the right side...?
I also heard it at times when my car is just stopped, and I turn the wheel left and right.
I brought it to the dealer, and they claim they don't know what it is or how to fix it.

Any of you guys have any suggestions? It's driving me crazy.

Thanks

Is it a 4 x 4? I have a 2014 Limited 4 x 4 and I too hear clicking coming from the front end… Took it into the dealership… They had to call Chrysler… Diagnosis was that it's normal and it's coming from The drivetrain (I believe they said solenoid's). hope this helps

I had a clicking sound in my previous WK2 which was a 2012 Overland V6 4x4. I even went as far as making a post inquiring about it a couple years ago just like you. Search my name and you may find the post, but its been too long for me to remember if anyone had any good info in it. I never did anything about it as I just got used to it since it was only slightly audible with windows down. Never had any issues it was probably just a normal function of something up front.

My '08 WK had the same noise from day 1 with 11 miles on the ODO and still had the same tick 65k later. It never got louder either with all the added miles/years. I just turned the radio up until I didn't notice it while driving low speeds or near a lane divider.

I really hope I'm not missing something here, but are you describing the sounds of the transmission solenoids clicking when shifting gears or is it something else?

It's most likely the transmission, but it does it quite often, even when not shifting. I hear the clicking constantly when sitting in DC traffic on my commute, every time I press the gas and let off to move up in line, there is a click. Drives me nuts.

Well, as I've been paying even more attention the past few days, it seems that it doesn't just happen when I step on the brakes; it also happens when I my foot is off the brake, but still, only at very very low speeds. I'm now afraid that it might happen when shifting gears, which would mean it's a tranny thing, right? Ughhhh

Well I just discovered something last nite that might be the cause. I wanted to try out my new floor jack to see how high it raises my Overland. Put it under the front drivers side and got front wheel off the ground. Gave the wheel a few spins and kept hearing a noise like I was still scraping the ground. Looked underneath and had 2 inchs of clearance. Kept spinning the wheel and realized that it was coming from inside the tire. ? Spun back and forth definitely something in there. Whatever it is it is not round as you can hear it tumbling when you spin wheel. My TPMS is working fine so I know it's not something off that. Ran out of daylight but I will check the passenger side later to see if that has something in it to. I have know idea what could be in there. After I change over to my new wheels I will bring tire to dealer to have a look inside. Very curious. I only have 510 miles on vehicle so I would say it came with that in there from factory.

So I brought the vehicle to the dealership last week, and they took another look at it.
I went for a test drive with their Quality Control Technician. He acknowledged that the heard the noise, and during our drive he said it might be related to the brakes. Then they brought the vehicle back in the shop and after further diagnosis, they told me it's normal noise of the shift lock solenoid engaging, so there is nothing to be done.
I think that's bulls***, as I have two friends that have the same exact vehicle (2014 GC Limited), and theirs does not make this noise.
I have also driven many other cars in my 20+ years of driving (Ford, Toyota, Buick, etc), and I have never ever had this problem before.

As much as I like this car, it has way too many clicks, rattles, and buzzes for a $40,000+ car. I think it's time I trade it in and go back to Ford. Ugh.

Ugh, you are chasing something that ISN'T a problem. Thats a normal noise for these vehicles and is something thats just doing its thing. I have had multiple WK2's and they did it exactly the same. Just let the vehicle do what it was designed to do. If this noise bothers you that much then its not the vehicle for you.

Thanks for your reply, JTS. However, if Jeep truly designed their vehicles to do this, then that's a head-scratcher to me.

Car clicks when I slow down to a stop = normal.
Car clicks in the glove compartment area when I release the windshield washer fluid = normal.
Roof rattles and buzzes when I go over the slightest bumps = normal.
Passenger side rear door rattles and buzzes constantly = normal.

You say that's normal, I say that's sloppy quality control.
I'd be ok with it for a cheap car, or for an old car. This car is neither.

I can confirm the clicking too, slow speeds, breaking, right turns, left turns. It's subtle, but I hear it on other jeeps coming in and out of our work parking garage. I feel ocd too allowing this to get too me, so I'm learning to live with it and told myself it's normal. I would not be as patient with other ambient cabin noises, no way. Good luck, stay w jeep far better option than ford

Update: I brought it in to a THIRD dealership yesterday, and after months and months of attempts...it's finally fixed!! (well....sort of; the noise is still there, but it's so faint now, that I can deal with this)

It was the transfer case actuator. They replaced it, and like I said, it's now good enough for me. :) :)

So thanks to the other forum members that believed my problem, and to the members that thought I'm making something out of nothing...this is proof that maybe you don't have to always accept what you're told. I'm happy I kept trying, after much aggravation I finally got it taken care of. Even though it still has a faint noise, it's truly like night and day compared to what it was before.

Now if I can just get that rattle/buzzing in the roof fixed....then I might just get a Jeep tatoo!
