Climate Control Off

Can anyone tell me how to totally stop any air from entering through the Auto Climate Control (CC) vents besides pressing the Circ button? If I'm driving behind a truck that's spewing exhaust fumes, like anyone else, you would shut off the fan by pressing the Off button or press the Circ button to block any outside air. Pressing the Circ button does block the outside air, but it seems that when pressing the Off button (the physical button above the Auto button), I still get outside air coming in when the fan is not blowing. This happened this morning as I was driving to work and approached a truck in front of me. I had already pressed the Off button and "Off" displayed on the climate icon on the Nav screen, but truck exhaust smell entered the cabin. I had to actually press the Auto button to turn on the fan then pressed Circ to stop the smell from coming in (of course after first venting the sunroof to rid the smell). Any one else experience this?

Re: Climate Control Off

I think your question is a little confusing. (At least to me) Do you still get air coming in after pressing circulate? On my 2011, recirculating the air does not allow for outside air to come in. If I don't want outside air in, that's what I press.

Sorry if my post was confusing. I do not get air coming in when pressing recirculate, so that works. But when I have the fan on (I.e., Auto), without recirculate, then press Off is when air still comes in.

Re: Climate Control Off

That seems to be completely normal to me, and every car I have owned/rented/been in.

Re: Climate Control Off

I believe recirculate is the only option to stop outside air from coming in.

I'll have to test this somehow, but if the system is off and recirculate was never pressed while the system was previously on, does air still get in? In other words, does the flap/door in the dash remain open?
