I wanted my summit in mineral grey but they couldn't find one anywhere last April so I settled on brilliant black. I like my Black Betty and get tons of compliments on her looks but still miss min grey sometimes. However, On the bright side I find that my brilliant black jeep doesn't show dirt nearly as bad as our black obsidian infiniti. I think it's because the jeep uses a black metallic paint while the infiniti is non metallic. I agree with some of the other comments that a clean waxed black car is very sharp but I have to say my jeep is filthy right now and it doesn't look all that bad.

That reminds me I should really get Black Betty washed today...it's been months!

White Gold Issues

I just picked up a 2012 base 4x4 in white gold. I love the rig and the color but I have been finding dark spots or blotches in the paint. The most noticeable spot is a 4 inch circle on the hood. I brought it into the dealer and they said it was a factory issue that would be fixed under warranty.

Has anyone else had this problem? If it's covered I would rather take it to a professional paint shop than the dealer.

Sucks my first post is a problem. Hopefully, I have better news once this paint issue is resolved.

Re: Color poll and pros/cons of each

I have Dark Charcoal Pearl. I love this color! It's discontinued for 2012, though. It can look black in certain lighting conditions, but in bright sunlight when clean, it's an absolute beautiful dark gray. Here's a pic taken on the day I signed the papers almost 2 years ago.. time flies!

Re: Color poll and pros/cons of each

I personally love White Gold.

Pros: Changes color depending on light. I've seen it gold (obviously), white (!), greenish, and believe it or not, gray (under a certain light) . The color hides dirt really, really well, so if you're like me and lives in the city and doesn't wash the car often, then it's the perfect color. It stands out and though it looks Toyota-ish (as one person mentioned), the metallic sheen looks really nice. It's a discontinued color making it semi-rare.

Cons: Color looks terrible in pictures. People don't seem to like the color much. It's a discontinued color making it stand out and easy to identify should some unknown event happen that gets caught on camera.

My wife loves the gray and of course, gold. Other than the gold I like red, green and brown.

Stone White - Easy to keep clean, and it hides scratches extremely well.

Tastes are so different (and that's good). In Germany for example you couldn't sell a white vehicle without losing a lot of money over a darker color vehicle. It might be the rental car/company car image of white vehicles there, in the US white is such a popular color.

Too bad White Gold was not popular enough to stay in line up. Mine hides dirt great. It almost glows in the sun and I'm meeting lots of new people in the grocery store parking lot on sunny days. Too bad they are all guys with trucks. In a town where I seem to see a WK2 on the road every 5 miles, I have only seen 2 other white golds.

Overall couldn't be happier with the contrast of the saddle and blue

Con with any dark color is its tendency to show dirt.
Thats what I have ordered but with the HEMI, counting down the days, due mid April..

Re: Color poll and pros/cons of each

Yesterday we were parked near a mineral gray, in daylight, while we have a cherry red. Both look great, although as with hair color they emanate different personalities. But what we didn't expect was that the gray WK2 looks smaller than the cherry red WK2.

Of course, it's all illusion. But if perceived size is important to you, it might be worth looking at samples in various colors parked nearby with that in mind.

Better MPG if it looks smaller
