Re: Completed A Survey, Got Offered A Free Protection Plan...

I got the Max Care Lifetime contract for my Overland, once it became apparent that I was going to blast past 50,000 miles in less than two years of ownership. Generally, these contracts are a money-making proposition for Chrysler, but it's possible that I'm going to keep this vehicle for quite a while. Given the complexity of its electronic, mechanical and suspension systems, for a little over $2K, it offered a lot of piece of mind.

I've used it once, when my brake booster went south a couple thousand miles ago, and it was absolutely no hassle. The dealer did the repair and I paid only the $100 deductible. It's my recollection that it's a $100 deductible per visit, so if you bring your vehicle in for multiple repairs on the same occasion, you only pay $100.

The lifetime warranty remains in effect until such time as the cost of a contemplated repair exceeds the vehicle's value, at which time you can choose to be bought out for the value of the vehicle.

One thing to bear in mind is that each dealer can offer this at whatever price he deems appropriate. It's worth shopping around, or at least negotiating with your dealer. Don't pay MSRP for the service contract.

I believe they did just increase staffing in quality *again*.

I have requested a transfer in quality because of you guys... but I dunno if I want to take it for personal reasons. (Right now, for example, I can go to the bathroom whenever I want... that's a big one!)
I thought you had run of the place. Chevy was showing us what you do. Sounded like you really got around the plant. Nice to know you keep trying to make them better.

That brake booster issue looks like it could be solved with a small brush and a bit of Rustoleum undercoating.

There's a series of small crimps around the booster, and they do seem to collect small pebbles, sand, dust, and I'd suspect winter de-icer slush mix, and it looks a lot
like there may be tiny amounts of exposed bare metal at those crimps.
