Completed A Survey, Got Offered A Free Protection Plan...

So I just got off the phone with someone from Chrysler. She called me because a few days ago I filled out an online survey from Jeep that discussed my new car experience. It asked me questions about what I was happy or unhappy about. In my survey I pointed out things like:

The lack of quality control / final inspection coming out of the assembly plant.
The fact that my front CV joints failed within the first few weeks of ownership.
The door ding that my Grand Cherokee came with.
The lack of quality control / final inspection coming out of the assembly plant.
The misaligned doors that stick out further on the bottom.
The uneven moldings all around the vehicle.
The leather on my back seat that was not attached at the bottom.
The lack of quality control / final inspection coming out of the assembly plant.
The kicked in speaker grill on the driver side.
The scratched up hemi cover on my engine.
The various scratched areas in the paint that are there because they are hidden areas (near the hinges of the back door, under the hood, etc).
The lack of quality control / final inspection coming out of the assembly plant.
The uncarpeted areas that I see bare floor for no apparent reason.
The rubber moldings around the windows that are inconsistent and uneven. Some are even cut.
Oh, did I mention the lack of quality control / final inspection coming out of the assembly plant?

Most important: THE LEVEL OF DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE FACT THAT I SPENT CLOSE TO $55,000 FOR A VEHICLE AND EXPECTED IT TO HAVE BETTER QUALITY THAN A $20,000 VEHICLE.

I could go on, but I won't.

Anyway, she was very kind and apologetic to me for my experience and she offered me a few service plans for free. One was called the "Motoring Assistance Plan" and the other was the "Auto Appearance Care" plan. I told her I would call her back to let her know which one I wanted. I asked her to tell me a little bit about each plan but I wanted to do my research. Here's the problem. I can't find any info anywhere online about these programs. She said they were available through Mopar. I have done searches and cannot find anything with info.

Some of the things she told me about each plan:

The Auto Appearance Care plan would cover for the lifetime of ownership any door dings/dents that could be fixed with the paintless dent removal service. Any chips or cracks in the windshield. Any cuts, rips or burns on the interior surfaces.

The Motoring Assistance Plan would cover car rental for the first day and up to 5 days in a row. The price to tow (up to $100). Replacement of my key fob if I had any issues with it or lost it.

I am planning on getting a MaxCare plan from my dealer, so all of the things in the Motoring assistance plan would be covered through that (minus the key fob). I plan on getting this for free because of a horrible experience I had at the dealership, where the sales manager berated me in front of other customers and employees (that is a whole other story and I will post about it once I meet with the owner of the dealership).

I think for the freebie from this phone call, the Auto Appearance package sounds a lot better. I really want to research them both, but I cannot find anything anywhere.

Are any of you familiar with either of these packages? I want to read the small print and really understand what each has to offer. She said she did not have anything she could email me.

Thanks!

PS: I love my Grand Cherokee. I listed all those points above out of frustration. I do think this is a beast of a vehicle so far. It is powerful, sexy, and has great tech. This would be the perfect vehicle if it wasn't for all those issues. I am still, for the most part, happy that I made this purchase. I'm just disappointed in this stupid crap.

Greetings,

Glad that you do like the GC after that nasty experience. How do like the sound system and which one did you get?

Best for now.

One of the main reasons I went with the Summit was the HK system it came with. I could not deal with the sound quality of the Alpine system in the other models. I am very happy with the HK in the Summit. Loud, crisp, and lots of thump!

So everybody here has zero knowledge of the Auto Appearance Care plan or the Motoring Assistance Plan? Anyone?

I start a post about CV failures and I have 45 pages of responses. Can I maybe get 1 page of responses here? lol

Re: Completed A Survey, Got Offered A Free Protection Plan...

well i for one cant wait for this survey to come out. I love this Jeep, wanted this since this body style came out years ago, finally was able to purchase.. The jeep is a GC Limited Loaded,, i even purchased the overland wheels waiting to install. Now my first ride i was impressed, very tight and strong and loaded with bells and whistles, now the negative

after 1 month of ownership
1) misaligned passenger door, ripped moulding off
2) The mysterious intermittent dash board rattle
3) The CV joint pissing grease all over my wheels and brakes, needs replacement
4) the piss poor rubber trim around the windows that fold up and look awful
5) the key fob not always working
6) and the final straw , the knock in the engine , now told they have to rip it apart to find out whats wrong?? Holy crap, just take the piece of crap back for good, LOL

Oh my biggest Irk
its a Jeep, i looked at 50 GC's on the lot and only like 5 had a tow Hitch ?? how is thsiis not kinda standard equipment???? just still irks me

Im actually being a good sport and laughing at all this, cause

1) i really like the Jeep
2) anger management really works
3) so does meds
4) now i have something to look forward to when i get it back
5) i have a i was right smug smile on my face cause first service tech said he heard nothing in the engine the first time i brought it in, LOL . so proved his bad attitude wrong
6) i found this site which helped me diagnose problems cause of all this

cant wait for the survey , i will let u know what they say and packages they offer

lol I hear ya! I do like my Jeep. All the issues were a nice burden though.

I just wish there was someone out there who knew what these packages are that I am talking about.

I really wish that you didn't feel this way, but at the same time I am glad you love your Jeep. ? ?

We will continue to improve quality. We have the numbers. We have the motivation to improve those numbers. There is a bottleneck though... I won't and can't say what.

I'm still trying to figure out why nobody at the plant level was aware of the halfshaft issue though...

BTW: Nobody at JNAP handles halfshafts. Those are supplied to us, inside the pre-assembled suspension cradle.

Marlon, the biggest reason we bought the Jeep was because of JNAP and wanting to support Detroit (our Volts were built in Hammtramck). But gotta say that the some of the issues I had on mine (window trim, paint flaws, interior trim flaws, CVs) are really head scratching.

What is the QC system at the plant and how could my Jeep leave the factory with beads of paint under the door handles?

We'll continue to support American workers and American companies but that doesn't make my experience so far ok.....

I would have guessed free car washes and a motorist assist a few rungs below AAA.

Can't comment on that, but there's plenty of QC people. One lady yells all day long. So they are dedicated, but they do have their "jobs" to do and not much, if any, time to look for other stuff.

I believe they did just increase staffing in quality *again*.

I have requested a transfer in quality because of you guys... but I dunno if I want to take it for personal reasons. (Right now, for example, I can go to the bathroom whenever I want... that's a big one!)
