sales tax 1600 yearly property taxes. Oh how I dream of that.

The lowest real estate property tax and I am talking in a trailer here (trailers cost about 90,000) is around 8,000, most people pay 13,000 here on Long Island a year. I am at 20,000 and climbing yearly. It sucks. Oh yea we have 8.625% sales tax too boot, some of the highest state income taxes, and I could go on and on. We even got wrote up in an article about how we are the highest taxed area in the country. Not to mention we also have the highest utility rates. And with all that, we are still overpopulated. Just can't win.

That 1600 was the yearly tax on the car not real estate property but we have that also unfortunately. But im sure living in a super blue state like new York you get shafted by tax worse than anyone lol.

You got it. In NH it's all slapped on real estate taxes which varies wildly by town. I pay $12,000/year !! (no trash pickup, no sewer and no water).

I'll take Taxassachusetts any day.

Oh wow ouch we have no yearly car tax, that kind of sucks. Unfortunately it is terrible though tax wise. Business Insider figured out the 2 counties that make up Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk) are the most expensive places to live when taxes and energy costs are factored in. I want to move, but I am afraid I might lose some good customers that I have in the north east if I shifted south. Most expensive places to live in America - Business Insider

I live in Queens, NY and we get shafted by the city tax, property tax, high car insurance %8.6 sales tax and other crap which i just don't pay attention to anymore. I guess its all relative to the area and its cost of living.

Quebec has a lovely 9.975% Sales tax (QST) to which you must also add the 5% federal tax (GST). So on a $57,000 sale, you are paying an additional $8,550 in taxes.

Then if you opted for the HEMI, be ready to pay an annual gas guzzler tax based on engine displacement (rate increases with engine size) of $164.

Yes, I was referring to some states having a "personal property tax" on vehicles over and above any sales/transaction tax, not real estate taxes, which is a whole 'nuther animal...

Re: Considering '14-'15 JCG Overland/Summit - Reliability?

Thankfully, here in New Mexico new car sales tax is only 3% and registrations cheap. That's about all there is to keep your car on the road.

Re: Considering '14-'15 JCG Overland/Summit - Reliability?

I like the summit, but prefer the Overland.

I like the wheels of the summit but don't trust them after seeing some post about rim bending or what not. The front of the summit is ok and the rear, meh its ok i guess. Only plus i can think of of the summit is the accoustic glass, front sensors oh and the audio which is now an option on the Overland. I love that on the overland you can remove the lower front fascia for off roading.

Id say if you can afford the summit, go for it. No wrong choice by any means. Good luck.

Re: Considering '14-'15 JCG Overland/Summit - Reliability?

2014 Jeep V6 overland, 63,000KM

No major issues, I had a few squeaks and rattles which have been fixed. I have been lucky with my tranny so far.

Only regret to this day, I wish I bought the Hemi. At the time I couldn't find one in a 1000km radius in Canada
( I was looking for a low km used Jeep)

Until next time.

Re: Considering '14-'15 JCG Overland/Summit - Reliability?

My area has a fairly high cost of living but the taxes are very reasonable. My property taxes on the Jeep will be around $650 initially. I am going from two cars to one (single guy), so that'll certainly be nice on the wallet.

I decided on the Summit. Between the incentives, steep discount, and 0%, couldn't pass it up and it is only $2k more than what the local dealer would do on an Overland. Pisses me off how local dealers act on the sales side, I have only been able to buy one vehicle locally. I fly up to pick it up next week, can't wait!
