Depends on the highway. Once you get up around 75 or so, the V8 has just begun to pull and will take you to over 100 in seconds. The V6, not so fast. This is with the 8 speeds on both.

As for city driving, the V8 is notably faster to 30 or 60 [thruways]

I've got almost 15K miles on a V8 with 8 speed, and total mileage since 3000 is 17.2 where that includes lots of steep slow mountains, running regularly over 8000 feet, moderate low speed city city, and a few blasts on freeways...

The V8 does recommend mid-grade, and does not support flex fuel if thats an issue.

If you can spot an Overland V8 near you, let your dealer know it MIGHT be acceptable if you were given some sort of incentive to buy right away. :-)

Re: Considering 2014 Overland (thoughts?)

I'm trying to decide whether to go with an upgraded Limited or an Overland. Is Quadra Lift standard or optional on the Limited? Is QL worth having? Lease terms are better for the Limited, plus the upgraded Limited is cheaper than the Overland. Decisions, decisions.

QL is not standard on the Limited. If you don't go off road, or need to drive through really deep snow more than a few times a year, you don't need it.

The only real advantage after that would be if you or a frequent passenger are short and could benefit from the lower entry/exit height.

I haven't checked on which trim levels the Quadra-Lift is available on or price. If no off road driving, I wouldn't get the Quadra-Lift ------ it is a cool feature for sure but unnecessary for street driving. Now the Advanced Technology Group is worth every penny and there is no way I would buy a vehicle without these features in the future.

QL is useful mostly for the park mode. Who knows if the aero mode really helps or not.

I agree about the tech package. It cam standard on my Summit and it works great. Would recommend it heavily.

bill_de, I thought I read here that QL adds to ride quality over rough streets? I'll probably stick with the Limited in any case, thanks.

Dan JGC, I have the ATG in my Chrysler 300C. I decided that I didn't need it. In the 300C I can't turn off the blind spot beeps which, while useful on the highway, it's annoying when driving in the city. I do kinda want brake assist though. Decisions, decisions.

Re: Considering 2014 Overland (thoughts?)

Quadra-Lift gives you the airbag suspension instead of normal springs, so it may ride better but only you can say if it's enough for you to want it. On a Limited you can get it as part of the "Off-Road Adventure II" package, which also includes Quadra-Drive and the towing package if you care about those.

Re: Considering 2014 Overland (thoughts?)

IMO QL both rides better and handles better than the standard suspension (I've recently had both). However, it does add another level of complexity.

As for the Advance Tech Package, the BLIS system does not beep on the Jeep.

Re: Considering 2014 Overland (thoughts?)

I've driven with and without QL. The ride may be a little different. Better ... well, if you pay more for something you start with a mindset that it is better.

You would have to drive both yourself to see if it is really better, because that is so subjective.

It seems like QL helps with crummy roads a bit compared to the standard Limited suspension. The Sport mode with QL makes for a very nice canyon carver.
A limited with decent 18 inch wheels would probably come close.

I've had both suspensions. My 2011 overland was such an early build model that it came without quadra-lift. The 2014 overland I just picked up has it.

The difference is very minor but the air suspension offers a slightly softer ride vs my 2011. Is it worth the extra money for you? Only a test drive can answer that question.

Good luck.

Re: Considering 2014 Overland (thoughts?)

I personally like the QL for load leveling as well, nothing I hate more than seeing a car with the ass end sagging (whether its because you're towing or have a full house in the vehicle).

Yes, I realize there are load leveling shocks without QL, just doesn't seem to be the same to me, BUT, thats just my opinion.
