Do they still offer that with the anemic 4 cylinder, and optional Fingerhut seat covers?
I'd expect that to be the CR Car Of The Year...

In my opinion Consumer Reports might be good for researching your next blender. They are not automotive enthusiasts.

This is true. They are also not audio enthusiasts, photography enthusiasts, computer enthusiasts, etc. etc. etc. At what they do, treat everything as an appliance or necessary evil, they fit their readership like a glove.

Your joking, right? CR is probability the most unbiased source out there for the consumer. Would you trust for instance JD Power over CR? CR gets most their money from their subscribers.

Maybe if Chrysler worked out most the bugs with the 2014 Grand Cherokee BEFORE releasing it, and improved on their Quality Control and dealership network, they wouldn't have received such a poor rating.

Here, I've made the correct changes :

Maybe if XXXXX worked out most the bugs with the 2014 XXXXXX BEFORE releasing it, and improved on their Quality Control and dealership network, they wouldn't have received such a poor rating.

They all do it.......some buyers just happen to moan more loudly than others .

Exactly my point in the OP. I really don't care what angle they take (i.e. value, quality, etc.) all their ratings are dry, black/white. Interesting that in the CR World of Cars the Wrangler is worst value, but in reality it holds it's value top 10 long term of all cars. It's just not reality and how people purchase. Unless your one of those guys driving a Prius going 50 in the HOV

I don't think they are intentionally biased. But I do think that CR readers are a microcosm whose opinions might not coincide with the broader population. The people who respond to surveys, by their very nature, are people who think their opinions really matter to the rest of the world.

It reminds me of a survey that was done while I was working. It concluded that 70% of our customers wanted more contact from the company. I had the audacity to ask what percent of the people who were sent a survey actually responded. It was around 3%. So the company was coming up with a new program because 70% of 3% wanted more contact.

If the survey was about your favorite color it might have had some validity. But when it was about wanting contact with the company and 97% didn't respond, that should have been telling.

So, like I said, I don't think CR is biased. I do think they have a skewed audience.

Then why does just about every business sends out some sort of survey about their product? What's wrong with thinking your opinion actually matters? Responding to surveys and giving your opinion couldn't be anymore American!

I'm not saying that anything is wrong with it. But typically the percentage of people who respond is so small that it might not represent the whole picture.

How many times have we read, right here, that people with problems are more likely to post on a forum. That would make the sample biased, even though the forums are open to everybody. That doesn't make the forum biased, just the sample.

Are these the same Americans who mostly sat home on election day?
