CR is good for appliances, and TV's. I say that only because I don't know very much about either. But judging vehicles on attributes that are completely unrelated to their intended purpose is like criticizing a fish for its inability to climb a tree.
They are equally clueless regarding appliances and TVs, but people who know appliances and TVs are pretty much like us Jeep nuts--we don't use CR reviews/ratings to buy TVs.

If Jeep gives me a free '17 GC SRT for my unbiased review, they'll certainly get a glowing one!
Why, that's DISGRACEFUL!!!
You should hold out for at least a Hellcat.

Re: Consumer Reports Apr 2016: WK2 the worst of the worst. What's wrong with CR mag?

So let's get this straight:

OP has a 2014 Grand Cherokee

2014 Grand Cherokee is on worst of the worst list of Consumer Reports

OP is going through a buy back with his 2014 Grand Cherokee

OP wants to know 'what gives'

Seriously?.. Lmao

My 2014 Hemi was absolutely problem free. I never had a single issue with it. My 2015 has been good. It needed an alignment when it was new. Front suspension is squeaky. Driver's door latch is creaky. But these are all super small things, it's still been a good car. Better than my wife's 2014 Lexus.

Re: Consumer Reports Apr 2016: WK2 the worst of the worst. What's wrong with CR mag?

For 25+ years I only bought Toyota and Honda trading every 2-3 years. I only went back to the dealers twice with minor problems. I thought that it was time for something new. I got a new 2014 JGC when they first came out. I love the way it handles and think it is very comfortable. However it has had me back to the dealer at least a 12 to 15 times for many DIFFERENT reasons. CR says 14's and 15's. They hit it right on the nose. I have a 14 and I cannot wait to trade it in this year. I only have 18000 miles on it and my friends and relatives want to buy it. I would not dream of selling this trouble prone vehicle to anyone that I know. (I just hope the dealer that I trade with doesn't read CR lol) Also, customer service at the company level has been awful.

No. 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is not listed on the CR report.

Haha that's funny but that is not what I said. Try reading the OP again. Turn your brain housing group on this time if you can.

Don't doubt it as CR is based out of Yonkers, NY. One of THE most corrupt cities on the East Coast. As they say, Yonkers is a "city of hills and valleys, where nothing is on the level".

I knew when I bought my 2014 that there'd be a risk because it was the first year of the engine and trans in the US. I thought it was a risk worth taking, but with the problems I've had with mine, my rig was one of the few(ish) bad ones.

But in the two years in driving this, my first Jeep, I began seeing how very many JGCs are still running. ZJs, WJs, and WKs still on the road after their introduction in 1993, I see them all over the place. New ones, old ones, an informal statistical study that shows them to be, apparently, pretty reliable.

So the What Gives? isn't about why did mine have problems, but why CR can bash the JGC as being unreliable and yet so many are still running. With CR, you'd think they were talking about the Yugo, last sold in 1992 in the US and I can't remember the last time I saw one of those on the road.
