But there are people in these forums that have no issues whatsoever, and think it is within pecs and perfectly normal "we close our eyes and raise our swords". Let's hear from Chrysler's knights in their shining armor... What say you noble knights?

We have a 2014 Overland 4x4 6 cyl. At this point we have owned it for about 3 months and it has about 4,200 miles on the clock.
What I can tell you, speaking only for our particular experience, is that we could not be happier with our choice. To date we have had no issues with the vehicle. I have gone over the car in detail in response to reports on this site with regard to fit and finish. On our Jeep I have found nothing to complain about. The paint job and the fit of the various interior and exterior pieces are on par with that of much more expensive european vehicles that we have owned. ( If Jeep would offer the option of "paint to match sample" I would be even happier than I am with our purchase but that may be a bridge too far for Jeep)
The tranny has consistently shifted flawlessly and for us the 6 cylinder has all the power we need to cruise the interstate at 80 and haul all of our gear as we travel to our boat. It also provides adequate power for the small amount of towing we do.
My wife loves the seats and the ride as well as the features and handling. We enthusiastically give it two thumbs up.

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

The fit and finish on our brand new 2014 Overland V8 4x4 is excellent. My only complaint is some rust when some sort of device carried the body in the factory, wearing through the primer. I'll touch that up. The factory should have prevented or corrected this problem, but it is minor.

The navigation unit went nuts Friday afternoon. I had been in a low clearance parking garage, but not that low. Still, the first thing I did when I got out at the restaurant for supper was look to see if the antenna had been damaged. It was OK. After supper, it worked just fine. A paper with the booklets says it was built I know it was built July 30, and I know there have been several significant updates to the firmware since then. The dealership (Huntington Beach) kept us waiting for a very long time when we bought it, and should have updated the firmware during that time. I will make time to have it updated. Yes, Chrysler should have had it right before they shipped it. This and the fiasco with the new Cherokee (not Grand) transmission control firmware indicates they have management and technical capability problems. Unfortunately, such problems are far too common in the auto and other industries - look how often PC software has to be updated with all manner of fixes for various bugs. As a collector and restorer of old radios, I also see that many radio makers in the 1930s were frequently updating their designs, so this type of problem with technology not being finished and debugged before it is sold is far from new.

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

I consider CR dropping the 2014 Jeep GC from their "Recommend" list a victory to all the people who bought one and had issues...then made a concerted effort to lodge a complaint. Kudos to you! Most of the time this course of action is the only way to get large corporations to correct things. Savor your victory you squeaky wheels!

Fantastic vehicle. Picked it up a few weeks ago and have this far put 1500kms on it. No squeaks rattles, shimmy or anything. All panels are correct and no tail gate issues. UConnect works flawlessly with my Iphone5 with most recent ios7. Transmission is buttery smooth with the Hemi providing great power with 20mpg of mixed driving....Eco mode works great.

I get stares and compliments everywhere I go with it. It's a mid Sept build Lux2, 20" rims, tow package with Hemi and billet silver in colour. Loving it thus far.

This sums it up, copied and pasted from another tread:

Parked on the side of the street, turned off the car....now it will not turn back on. Called emergency towing and the tow truck dude looked at me and started chuckling, he said this is the 5th JGC in a week that he picked up for not starting. He wasn't able to put it in neutral to tow so he reseated some fuse and it starts with the check engine light on. Super annoyed right now...im not a rich guy. But I wanted to spoil myself with a 40k car. At the dealership and the service manager was upset at me cuz the towguy pulled the fuse for some reason

Your right. Jeep didn't work on fixing anything until this issue hit the news stands.

I lodged my complaint with CR back in April...BEFORE the tranny reflashes came out.

I'm sure your complaint is what did it... It's a good thing you lodged that complaint otherwise people would have had to deal with a poor shifting transmission forever.

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

can I call bs on this ego trip now?

It is not unusual to have to adjust this kind of programming as you go.. there is no substitute for the exposure to failure modes you get when the user community hits it! what we initially got was probably code that had been developed in the simulator and on the test bed - as such it was not unusual to discover that it was not properly optimized since the real world always has unanticipated modes of operation. FWIW I took delivery of mine on the 1st of October, have almost 1600 miles on it and have experienced none of the failures you guys have....

I'm not saying you're crazy - just I would have been surprised if there were not performance enhancements developed subsequent to release.

However, The loose buss bar/ground was a real failure that should have been caught in the factory. My dealer told me they went crazy checking every vehicle on their lot and all deliveries for months after. In fact tighten the grounds/connections became a normal pre-delivery check item for them.
I wonder how many poorly trained mechanics improperly diagnosed and repaired that one before it was figured out?

What a bunch of sour-pusses...

Some of you have no sense of humor whatsoever.
