FCW's false alerts are a safety issue; the other issues are frustrating and irritating. A $50,000 vehicle should be better. I regret buying it.
There are good reasons why Jeep/Chrysler has been at or near the bottom of CR's reliability report for the past 20+ years.

September build with 2300kms and zero issues. Mind you I didn't buy into all the nanny tech. Figured they would be a source of annoyance. Bought a 14 Limited with V8, Lux2, tow package and 20's. Running like a champ. If you buy all the electronic gadgets I find it's just more to go wrong. Nice to have all the gear but I plan on running this Jeep I to the ground and do t need module failures for air suspension, radar cruise control ect failing when out of warranty. Got buy without them in my Acura and I'll so so in the Jeep.

We are talking here about reliability ratings which have nothing to do with whether CR people are "enthusiasts" or what their definition of "normal" usage is.

Reliability rankings are statistically based on what CR readers tell them in their reliability surveys and whether the levels of problems reported are more or less than average for all vehicles. Given what we've been reading on JeepGarage for the past ten months, the 2014 JGC DOES have reliability problems in certain areas, and that's now reflected in the CR reliability ratings.

While any one of ours may be perfect--and so far mine has been perfect except for the occasional nav freeze-up--that proves nothing except that some of us are fortunate. Time to face reality: The 2014 JGC has been reported by owners to have more instances of problems than the average 2014 vehicle. That's a fact. Stop burying your heads. Read the Troubleshooting/Problems/Service thread and pay attention. And stop with business about CR people aren't gearheads. They don't have to be. They just have to tabulate the numbers.

One thing I noticed, and mentioned, months ago is that almost every post that says, "mine has been perfect" has an except for in the same sentence.

Mine was/is not perfect. But the problems have been more in the "this is a PITA" category rather than "this Jeep is a piece of crap" category.

If I was a CR reader and filled out their survey honestly it would probably add to the negative result, even though overall I am very happy with the vehicle.

I don't believe the magazine is biased. Their survey methodology might favor vehicles with fewer, yet more serious, problems than those like Jeep with many minor issues.

I was talking to a service manager today about the number of software updates and the options (like eco off or mds off by default) that were taken out of the hands of the owners. He said he might be able to find me a '68 Duster with a slant 6. I told him I'd take it.

Excellent response. Reality bites.

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

The problem with this whole thing is that the early builds had some issues, and this is what CR is basing everything on. The later builds had most of the issues resolved, but CR does not reflect this.

I don't think buyers are paying any attention to CR. The folks at JNAP can't build them fast enough.

In the past they have dinged vehicles for their cup holders and lack of cup holders.

CR gave the 2014 JGC a recommended "check" in their August magazine review. CR subscribers reported reliability issues @ 90% worse than average. CR then withdrew the recommended "check" in the December magazine. What do cup holders, or lack of cup holders have to do with reliability?

Had CR gotten their $hit straight the first time around, I'd have been less likely to have gotten stuck with my garbage '14 Summit as long as I did. High time they get it together!

Funny thing is that most people with builds in the past 3 months LOVE their Jeeps. Too bad you had a lemon, but I can't say enough great things about mine. Best Jeep I have ever owned, and on my 5th Jeep.
