So - you want CR to predict reliability without any user data. Interesting alternate universe.

Yes. I also want my youth back, and a Libertarian president.

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

I don't rely on Consumer Reports to pick my vehicles....ever. I'm not sayin' there absolutely no good, just that Car & Driver, Motor Trend, and Road & Track, give me more useful info.

Yeah, I know the car rags take advertisements, but still, I'm leaving the washers, dryers, vacuum cleaners, and toasters to Consumer Reports.....IF I ever wanna feel good about ANY car purchase I've ever made!!!

Same here... I would never use CR as a guide for buying a vehicle, and use online reviews very little as well. When I buy a vehicle, it is to satisfy my needs and do what I want it to do without problems.

Considering that, my wife's 2014 Limited has had only a couple of glitches in ~7,000 miles; my 2014 Summit has had no problems... not even any issues (yet, as of less than 6,000 miles).

This is killing me for even thinking this way, but it's way too much money to be this aggravated out the gate. My husband said out loud what I was thinking. "Do you think you should wait for about 6 months so hopefully all the bugs get fixed?" Maybe when the 2015 comes out it'll just be a debugged 2014. It pains me to say this but with all the reported problems maybe it's best I wait.

Especially since it's not as simple as take it to the dealer and it's fixed. Too many people have been back multiple times and the problem is still not corrected. Having your navigation (I know it's a little more than just that) go out when you could possibly be out in the middle of nowhere is a very scary thought. My husband has always felt first production of any new vehicle will have some issues and I get that. I'm sure I'm not the only one who keeps a busy schedule and doesn't have time nor wish to try and make time to make numerous trips to the dealer to fix something. Not to mention if we are out camping and stuff happens. We camp often and this was going to double as our tow vehicle in addition to my everyday driver and we often camp out in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. This would suck big time if something were to go screwy lewy. Added stress I don't need.

Re: Consumer Reports Drops Grand Cherokee Recommendation

My advice is that you wait until Spring of 2015.

For that kind of time perhaps a different make. Kinda needed a 4x4 soon. Drats, I get to buy hubby a new car again before I get mine. Lol.

Exactly. My 2014 Summit has been trouble free since purchased new in August of last (that looks strange ) year. Still, with just under 6,000 miles on it, the only thing it needs (aside from the recall check) will be to check and possibly adjust the headlight aim. Heck, I don't even call that an "issue", let alone a problem.

Maybe, by posting this, I have jinxed my Jeep (and my wife's 2014 Limited as well), but so far, so good.

Is (at least) some of the problem due to some dealerships not being as competent as necessary? For that reason alone, we will not do business with the three Jeep dealers within 30 miles of where we live. The one (a relatively small place that does high volume) that is 50 miles away (Geneva, NY) has been absolutely fantastic.

(waiting for the Food Network to do a review on the 2014 GC; maybe Racheal Ray to say, "Jeep-o!"

Yea bottom line I wanted a GC, looked at the other brands and I want my Overland. Maybe I'll only have to wait until spring this year for the bugs to be worked out.

If you buy a build after Aug 2013, they are de-bugged. It was the early builds that had the problems.
