Have a question here. In this case can we claim from the guy who is driving that vehicle? Or we can only claim our own insurance?

Re: Cracked my windsheild :-(

Can't answer that, but imagine it would be hard to prove. I claimed on mine, full glass coverage. Easy.
Oh, if you have rain sensitive wipers others here recommend EOM windshield which is what I got... still had to be "introduced" via the dealer's shop computer to the car computer in order to work properly.

Re: Cracked my windsheild :-(

Seeing that the OP is from Florida (where I am from originally), if you have comprehensive coverage on your vehicle it is state law that your insurance company allow you to purchase a new windshield using insurance with no deductible. Florida only covers windshields but I believe South Carolina (where I live now) covers all glass. Pretty nice.

Re: Cracked my windsheild :-(

In the 2+ years I owned mine, I had 3 get cracked. Similar mileage on other cars with 0, knock on wood. The glass installer informed me that the JGC has notoriously weak windshields caused by flat design. It doesn't take much to chip, not that you can do anything about it. Find a good shop and call the insurance agent.

Um, what? The JGC's windshield has never been flat. He's talking about a Wrangler. Now those windshields crack by just looking at them wrong. The Cherokee and Liberty suffer from a similar problem. I've had TWO Liberty windshields crack. The first one I never fixed... I just turned the lease in.

With that said, we received yet another shipment of damaged windshields today.

Re: Cracked my windsheild :-(

Interesting, Marlon. I looked at my windshield in the wrong way this past spring and it cracked. I thought it was just me. Dealer was helpful to me after contacting Chrysler so they must be aware of this issue. I would think Chrysler would be "strong arming" the vendor to improve their product.

Doesn't work like that.

Suppliers build according to specifications from Chrysler. Not the other way around.

The windshield is a structural piece of glass. Every once in a while, stress cracks do happen. If Chrysler did fix it under warranty, that's exactly what it was. I have never been a victim of a stress crack... there was always a rock chip somewhere.

Early Darts suffered from stress cracks. Glad I have a later build.

Regardless, the angle of the windshield is what leaves it susceptible for rock chips leading to cracks, not whether it is flat or curved, but I'd imagine a curve would help a bit.

JGC windshields are still relatively upright compared to cars and crossovers.

I have seen this post made on every car forum about every make and model imaginable. People like glass installers say all kinds of crap to make themselves sound knowledgable. Our Jeep has nearly 40k miles on it, and we've never had a broken windshield, and we've had some big rock hits.
