Well a few days ago driving on the highway my WK2 limited got a cracked windshield from a fairly large stone hitting it. I am getting the windshield replaced from safelite as recommended from my insurance company. The main thing is I want a windshield the same quality as the OEM and I don't want any problems. I did some checking dealers don't do windshields they use outside glass compainies. Does anyone have any experience with safelite or know anything about the quality of windshield I will get?

My father owns a glass business, DO NOT USE SAFELITE! They do shotty work and hire kids off the street with no experience.

Go with a PPG or Pilkington dealer. They have much more stringent regulations to be a certified shop. Who is your insurance through? I can tell you what the windshield will sell for under the insurance carrier.

X2 I have had two experiences with safelite. The last experience swore me off of them forever. Inexperienced help, poor to non-existent customer service and a general lack of any concern. Don't even call them about a star break repair. They have lots of commercials which push this. When they arrive their game is to tell you it isn't repairable and upsell you a new windshield. They tried this on me the last time with my motorhome windshield, another company repaired it with no trouble or concern. The worst part was they weren't even equiped or capable of changing the 3K windshield in the MH, they were going to sub it out.

An OEM windshield should cost you no more than any other. By law you have the right to demand OEM parts be used by your insurance company. They cannot refuse to use or pay for OEM parts. Don't let them strongarm you into thinking otherwise.

The price to you shouldn't vary at all. If you have say a $100 deductible, then $100 is all you pay regardless of the total bill. The only variable to you the customer is the amount of deductible you chose and payed for. 0,50,100 or higher deductible, each one costs you more or less on your policy premium but no shifting costs when using it.

For example if you have a $100 deductible like the example I used above, the $418 windshield and installation labor charge will cost you exactly $100. If not then someone is lieing and bending you over.

i got my WK windshield replaced free of charge, done by safelite with OEM glass, it was actually an exact match of my stock one... little black dots and Chrysler emblem included....

From what I have been told when I had mine replaced there is no aftermarket windshields available as of yet. Even the oem replacement the jeep garage ordered had to be shipped and took a couple days because there were no oem replacements in the area.

Glad to hear you didn't go with safelite. Aftermarket windshields are available for the 2011 WKII now through PPG, safelite, and Pilkington. OEM dealer glass is a special order.
