Crazy to turn down this GC Altitude deal?

Hey guys, I was able to negotiate the following deal on an altitude:

MSRP: $39,584
Dealer Discount: -$2,310
Conquest Rebate: -$1,500
Total Selling Price: $35,774

Total Out the Door: $39,000

It was a 4v4 and it had the altitude package+they were throwing in the backup camera. They didn't have the car I wanted on the lot but found it somewhere else.

Before signing, I took my wife back to the dealership to test drive and she loved the ride but here's the thing, she hated the 20" black rims and the black grille. She said "it doesn't look like a family car". I tried in vain to get the dealer to change it out. Apparently, she wants the standard black and chrome look.

I would be the one primarily driving the car and this is our first purchase. Are there any easy fixes for the rims and the grille if the dealer is still willing to do it? He's currently trying to help my get a similar deal on a Limited. I doubt he would be able to do 39k out the door though.

No, we need a second car and the GC was HER choice. She says it looks like something drug dealers would drive. She was ok with it if they could change them out.

Re: Crazy to turn down this GC Altitude deal?

The Altitude is a special edition and those black highlights are one of the reasons that folks buy it. If "the boss" doesn't want those, and you want to stay with the lower trim levels for cost, they you'll need to look at the Laredo E with the options you actually do want. There is no way a dealer is going to "change them out" from an Altitude as it's a very in-demand vehicle with a certain demographic.

I don't have much experience buying cars, but on the surface this looks like an excellent deal to me. Am I right?

The problem with the lower trim is that there's no backup camera and thats a requirement. The heated seats/steering wheels and other features that are standard on the altitude are also a huge plus.

We're in NJ btw.

Sounds like a very FAIR deal.

If you want to draw blood, ask for the invoice and shoot for $2,000 less.

Re: Crazy to turn down this GC Altitude deal?

My fiance is also not a fan of black wheels on cars but as long as they're not on her car she's ok with it.

If she wants something that looks like a family car maybe you can give her the option of trading in her car for a minivan.

The dealer will change anything you want on it but it's going to cost you and it really doesn't make sense to remove the things that make it an Altitude.

You might be able to find someone here that would swap wheels with you. The grille, well, not sure. Good luck.

If it really will be yours, tell her she can either accept it or else you'll start dealing drugs.

I suspect if you buy it with the black rims, you shouldn't have much trouble getting rid of them, e.g. selling them here.

The Limited is a nice Jeep.... tell them the missus loves the black one--except for it being black, but you'd have to sleep in the yard if a Limited comes in at a higher cost.

If your missus is like mine, you be the good cop, and let her be the bad cop.

LOLOL, she doesn't deserve the Altitude man!

But yes, they are easy fixes!

Choose your wheels here:http://www.justforjeeps.com/jegrchwh...chwh&Year=2015

Buy this grill:http://www.justforjeeps.com/ovchgr.html

You will be set. Now sell your other parts on this site, eBay, or craigslist.

How are you getting from $35,774 to $39,000 is that all taxes?

$39K seems high even with taxes. But maybe you have extremely high tax rate.

Your wife is right, I don't care for black rims either. Looks like a Kids Toy.
