Crossbars for roof rails?

Trying to decide between OEM Mopar crossbars for roof rails vs. Thule 460R podiums for my 2012 Overland. I have been researching and trying to decide which one will work well and look the best on my jeep.

The main purpose of the crossbars is to carry my skis. I am planning on upgrading from a Thule ski rack to a ski box in the near furture. Any one using either of these setups that can comment?

I like the look of the Thule, but it looks like that setup with aerobars is going to cost around $100 more. Any advantages of going with the Thule over the Mopar crossbars? Is it true that the Mopar bars do not lock to the vehicle?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Crossbars for roof rails?

ehhh i went yakima...theyre pretty similar. I wouldn't go with mopar just because the aftermarket is easier with thule or yakima.

its really a personal decision. each have their own fan club

Re: Crossbars for roof rails?

I went with Mopar they were easy to install and the price on ebay was good. Agree with above though it is really just ppersonal pref. I have yakima fat cat 6 connected currently and seems to work great.

Re: Crossbars for roof rails?

I installed the Thule 460R Podium system with the square bars to carry my kayak. I have been very pleased with how easy it was to install, the stability of the system, being able to lock the feet to the vehicle and the overall look.
