The factory crossbars are black. You can buy them of ebay of in just for jeeps.com not expensive at all.

If you want quality crossbars I suggest Thule. They are steel crossbars instead of plastic.

It appears that my siderails have no place to bolt down any crossbars,I see no channel like on some jeeps

Photos will be best to see what you are talking about. Maybe you dont even have side rails in your roof and that is another big job.

According to wk2jeeps.com, the 2012 Laredo "E" (base model) comes standard with "BRIGHT SIDE ROOF RAILS (MW1)" Regardless, if the have a slot running along the rail toward the center of the car, the mopar cross bars should work. No slot, well then you may have to add rails. Best to post photos, both sides of the so called rail.

E package is optional in 2012. I'm guessing jimlaw3 didn't get the E package which means they got just dark gray rails and it sounds like they don't have slots for cross rails.

Re: Crossbars on a 2012 JCG base

so I went to the dealer today to ask about the side rails,They said my siderails are just molding(all black).I will need to buy siderails and crossbars to the tune of $450.Why would any Grand Cherokee come with no side rails.Other than this I love my JCG..I wish it had the 8 speed trans like my 2012 Charger, its a great transmission.
