Re: Curious Logic to Automatic Door Locks

This morning my auto locks triggered at exactly 15mph. I will continue to monitor the locks.

Re: Curious Logic to Automatic Door Locks

I've noticed it is not 'just' 15 mph that activates the locking system. I'm assuming there is an engine load parameter attached as well (engine load of maybe 25%+). When you lightly throttle the car on a flat surface it will go past 15 mph, but as soon as the throttle increases to a normal level (and your at 15 mph or greater) the doors lock.

It would be nice if we had a choice. I can understand that people like the 15 mph set-up, but something like this could easily be user definable in the EVIC or Uconnect.

That is what I have been assuming as I am pretty sure I have exceeded 15 mph without triggering the locks. But I will pay more attention to this over the next week to be sure.

I live in area with lot of road rage therefore this feature is very useful when people get out and kick your door panels.
So is a Glock 9mm.

Or, if not allowed in your area [and you really wouldn't want to risk a CCW by pulling one anyway], put lots of big NRA stickers all over the place.

Change the menu setting on your arm so it only extends out the window at speeds above 16 mph?

Today I hit 25 mph twice without my door locks being triggered. I don't think there is anything wrong with my locks, I just think, as has been suggested, there is something else involved than merely speed. The first time I hit 25 mph, I was on a flat and was accelerating slowly. The second time I was going down a slight hill and let up on the gas pedal.

This is why I believe other parameters should be available for controlling the auto door locks. Let the owner decide.

Re: Curious Logic to Automatic Door Locks

My 2014 GC works just as my 2011 GC did.

If I exit my driveway and go downhill I can hit the speed limit (35mph) and my door locks will not activate.

I stop at the bottom of the hill (3/4 mile drive) at the stop sign, when I accelerate across the flat section of the road the locks will activate at around 15 MPH.

If I leave my driveway and head uphill the locks will activate at around 15 MPH.

Certainly more than just MPH going on.
