Curious noise after shutdown

Has anyone else noticed a strange noise about 2-3 minutes after shutting their vehicle down? I have a 2015 Overland and I am often waiting in my vehicle when picking up my daughter from her after school activities. After killing the motor and after the radio turns off, there seems to be something else that makes a shutdown noise 2-3 minutes later. It is not very loud and it only lasts for a couple of seconds, but it occurs every time I remain in the vehicle after killing the engine.

Just curious.

Probably the air suspension settling and leveling the vehicle. I get a noise in the approximate same time line and that's what it is.

Re: Curious noise after shutdown

Presuming said noise is something akin to a giant squirrel chattering, that would be the suspension--but it doesn't matter whether one is inside or outside the vehicle.

Perhaps OP could share some detail as to what the noise sounds like, and whether or not they have the air suspension, as it could be vacuum leakdown or the cat under the hood finding a new resting place.

I should have been more specific, I have a 4x2 and I thought the air suspension leveling was just for 4x4 models?

Thanks for the replies.

For lack of a better way to describe the noise, it is comparable to the sound of the steering wheel adjusting on auto exit, but the sound seems to come from the area of the radio/navigation. It is a faint sound and nothing major, but it is recurring and has me curious.

What does your noise sound like?
I believe you are correct regarding 4x2...

Re: Curious noise after shutdown

Could be the HVAC blend door actuator(s) as the vacuum bleeds off. That's normal too.

Bingo. It's the blend doors -- not vacuum driven though -- the system shuts them before going to sleep, usually at the 2-3 minute mark after shutdown.

Could also be the hard drive on the infotainment system shutting down.

LOL... I thought they were still vacuum driven. The rare times I hear it that's what it reminds me of.
