Re: D-Day 2012 Is Here

I have a good question. If my dealer has to many 2011 GC's on the lot currently and orders a new 2012 SOLD GC would Jeep hold up building my GC due to the overflowing lot of 2011's? I'm starting to wonder if this is becoming my builds issue since they have other 2012 vehicles on their website in transit but no 2012 GC's. Whats your thoughts?

I would doubt that the number of 2011s on the lot matters. That inventory is more the dealership's problem, not Chrysler's. Chrysler factory wouldn't even be aware of it.

Re: D-Day 2012 Is Here

Someone who took delivery of a 2012 Grand Cherokee (Mineral Gray) said there was a problem with their paint, especially on the hood in that it was not uniform or streaky (can't remember how they described it). I wonder if this could slow them up.

Re: D-Day 2012 Is Here

Dealer inventory should not affect sold orders. Paint problems definitely would hold things up.

Re: D-Day 2012 Is Here

Day 13 into my building process with my new 2012 GC and it is still in built paint status according to Jeeps customer care. They are also shocked that it is still in paint F status today. I reached out to my dealership which hasn't helped me much with figuring out if it go stuck somehow. The rep I talked to today said they looked up a few others today for some other people both black Overland 4x4 v8's ironically. Both where built and either in inspection process or just shipped on last Friday. So paint isn't the issue. My estimate ship date was 7/28 and now they told me the new estimated date is all zero's which they found odd.

Anyone else have any idea on how to look further into this? My dealer isn't doing anything for me on it and I just find it odd that I had a estimated ship date of 7/28 and also have a built Jeep stuck in paint now for 13 days. I understand its a estimate but the fact that it was built and in (F) Paint status for 13 days seems to me that there is a problem. Just doesn't make sense. Is there anyone else I can contact to figure this out?

It is possible that the status simply wasn't updated and it is further along...from my experience, don't take the production status as gospel.

Could it be already out for delivery then? Could that happen and never update?

Re: D-Day 2012 Is Here

Anything is possible. Seems like there is more than one status computer system. Insight uses one, CS uses another and they know nothing about the Insight system. I don't think either one is accurate.

Re: D-Day 2012 Is Here

I followed several vehicles on insight and the current status they provide has been pretty accurate. The system does not tell you much about what may be causing a delay during the build process, cars sometimes are side tracked waiting for parts, or waiting for a minor fix, and are just sometimes set aside for one reason or another.

The near term predictions the system provides seem to be OK, but that father out the time, less dependable and always optimistic (perhaps they are goals). The most unpredictable time is just how long the car waits before being put on a train, or how long the car may be sidetracked for a part.

You just never seem to get a good explanation of what any delay may be.
