Daytime running lights query?

When I took my 2011 Ltd in to have a daytime running light bulb replaced the tech pointed out that the actual daytime running light sockets had never been installed in the lighting housings on my vehicle and the side lights were wired to run as daytime lights. He said he had never seen this before and had no explanation. However he said it is not a problem.
Anyone else experienced this?

Interesting! Carfax shows it being first registered in US. Anyone know any other differences between US and Canada spec WK2 that I can check?

Re: Daytime running lights query?

That's kind of odd... I think the Canada spec vehicles are required to have DRL no matter what model, Laredo and up...

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

The side lights appear to be brighter than the DRL's I have seen on other WK2's. Maybe the original owner decided to have it wired differently for this reason but it's strange that the sockets are missing. Just a hole in the housings!

Key words... "original owner".

Nor sure what you mean? Unless you are saying the original owner had the mod carried out. The rest of the vehicle is absolutely stock so not sure why they would do this. Anyway, doesn't really matter just wondered if anyone else had seen or had this mod carried out.

Re: Daytime running lights query?

In spite of CarFax doing a pretty good job, they're not perfect.

It's possible the car was in an accident and the body shop screwed up when they put it all back together.
