That's the advertised internet price...get an a real price quote on the truck and then see. It's more. At least it was everywhere when I was looking.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Something else I would recommend doing is to request a cut sheet from koons with a break out of all your numbers and your OTD price a few days before, I do this with all of my cars. Koons will do that for you, just don't expect it in a half hour give them a little time to get it together. Then you can review all of your numbers before going in instead of during the anxiousness of the new car buy moment. It just makes what is already a smooth process a little better.
Remember compare the OTD numbers those internet teaser prices don't include a lot of things like freight and fees and do often include rebates and promotions you may not qualify for. Ask them for the OTD on the one you want, if they wont talk OTD then walk. Car dealers try to keep the ball moving to keep you confused don't let them do it and the way to do that is to keep your focus on the OTD number.

Re: DC metro area group buy

The other thing is for people who feel other dealers have legitimately beaten the group buy, they need to make sure they understand the group buy and compare apples to apples, be sure they realize its 7% under INVOICE not MSRP, etc. Criswell was one of the ones I got a quote from and they could not even match the group buy, let alone beat it. They had one car they could give me an unbelievable deal on, it was an Auburn color Summit they couldn't sell and had for months because nobody liked the color...but on a more "mainstream" truck they couldn't beat it.

I realize that I shopped extensively for the best rate I could get and took that to Koons to beat. They did. It always amazes me when I read posts where someone clearly makes an uniformed statement like it's the gospel truth. I got 1.8% financing for 72 months at a bank chain through Koons. That's better than PenFed. Koons is NOT making much money off that loan; some I'm sure, but not much. (Just like everything at Koons, it's likely about volume.)

As I said, Nader was very clear that they could be VERY competitive with financing IF credit scores warranted a good rate. I am very happy with my rate, with my loan, and with what Koons could offer. FWIW, if they couldn't have at least matched, I would have left and rescheduled for the following week. I took Nader at his word and he delivered. It's in Koons' best interest to be competitive.

Part of it is this crusade to rid the dealer of any profit. Businesses make profit, its the way the world goes round. if Koons or any other dealer can give me a good deal and the best rates available, they deserve my business. The statement "You do realize by giving the dealer the financing they are making more money" is very telling. It almost reads like he would pay a higher rate just to give the business to someone other than the dealership. Shows a great deal of bias.

Still doing research on the other thread on jeepgarage related to the recall, a little bit discerning, but getting a '14 JGC with mfg date after Aug 2013 seems safe.
I am just outside Philly In Delco and shopped every Jeep dealer in the area from Reedman Toll to David's Jeep and every dealer in between when looking for my 14, no one would even come close to Koons the best was 1% above invoice. I too would have rather bought locally, but every dealer said there was no possible they could even match or come close to what Koons could 7% below invoice. I made the trip and it was well worth it, even got what I was asking for my trade.

Very true! I purchased the extended warranty through the dealer. I spent a little more than I would have buying outside the dealer, but unwanted to give the person the commission over someone who didn't help me. Owning a business myself I always look to support others when I can. People who offer services deserve to get paid when they do those services well and you are satisfied. People who think others make too much money are idiots, who are they to decide what is an appropriate amount if money for someone else to make. This is the problem with out government right now, these people who have never produced a damn thing in their lives think they know what's best for us.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Absolutely agree Gtaz, I also am a business owner and in sales and making one's way in the world for oneself and ones family on commission and/or as a business owner isn't easy. That doesn't mean that we should accept unfair deals or overpay out of charity, but I think much of this drive to strip any and all profit out of something like a car purchase is unfair. Yes a lot of car salespeople and dealerships try and bait and switch and weasel you out of money, but everybody isn't like that. When I find someone that isn't I am happy to pay a reasonable amount more to do business with someone who's business practices I want to reward. Its a two way street, and consumers are pretty awful to these salespeople too.

I was very critical of Koons earlier in this thread because of a bad experience I had when shopping for my Jeep in 2011. I will say though, so far the feedback from everyone has been excellent. This appears to be a situation where you can have the best price and do business with folks who treat customers the right way.

Chiv, did you go in with your own financing or did you just have them run some options for you during your pickup?

Thank you, sir!

One more question on price - so that should give me the vehicle price (and processing fee). In addition to this price, I still need to pay:

State Sales Tax
License/Registration Fee

Anything else? Should the state sales tax be based on the vehicle price + $499 processing fee? I'm assuming it's still 6% in Maryland?

What is the current lic/reg fee for MD?

Brought my own in but they asked if they could try and beat it. They did. I did not go back to my bank and try and get them to match...
