First of all, I don't know what, if any beef there is between Koons and Farrish but they were extremely flexible in their terms for a group buy to take this business from Farrish. Here are the highlights:

- The sales manager agreed to 7% under invoice + tax, tags, freight, and $499 processing fee for a group of 10 to get the full discount. I confirmed that their invoice pricing is the same as what Milous posted for a base Limited (didn't check any further)

- The other bombshell is that there is NO time limit on purchasing. This one's for all you folks looking for the CRD and late availability packages. He said as long as the 2014 JCG is available to order, he will honor this price for this group. I may also be in this group now, given the impact on price.

- He is asking a $500 deposit before ordering (FYI, I put mine down today.)

- The discount does not apply for the SRT8.

- Here's the kicker: He asked that I not post his letter online (not sure why), but I do have this in writing. I guess he doesn't want this getting too out of hand, which is understandable. At any rate, I had a suggestion that I could supply him with all of the contact info for all interested parties and these people would be the ones privy to the "Group Buy" pricing. I can see how it would be hard trusting me on this one, but PM me and I can give you my name, and Tom Higgins' (Koons Sales Manager) direct contact info so that you can confirm the details, if needed.

I suggest we use BigWave's list to track all those that will be eligible for the group buy. So all who are interested, regardless of timeframe you expect to order, please make sure you're accounted for on this list and I can take it to him. Let me know if you have ANY questions.
Thanks for doing the leg work. I will PM you. To help with some transparency in the process, I am collecting email addresses for all interested parties. only1tobin, if you'd prefer to get those, that works for me. The way I see it, if we get at least 10 (or more) committed names w/ emails and cc the group on the email to the dealer, there is at least some way for dealer to reach out to the group and confirm 7%, and for the group to let all know they've ordered.

At some point we have to cut the cord on negotiating and sign up. B/c Farrish did provide an offer first (Thanks to SilverMax) I will call Miguel and see if he can beat what Koons is offering. One thing I noticed on the Koons offer is the $499 dealer processing vs Farrish $399. I don't say that to mean it kills the deal for me, but wonder if they can do better, say 7.5% off invoice.

Provided everybody's goal is to obtain the best good faith offer from the dealer with stipulations like Koons (order any time 14s can be ordered, $500 deposit etc), I suggest checking with Farrish, if they can beat Koons we go with the Farrish deal. If they can't beat it, we go with the Koons offer. (Only caveat is I'm still waiting to hear back from Al at Safford Jeep -- I won't hold up this process just to hear from him.) By doing this, it puts an end to the process, and either way we seem to have a good deal -- at least 7% below invoice and our group can order whenever they are ready.

Let me know what happens with Farrish - I'm open to either but I want to get my order in this week at the latest with whatever we do. We just need to all keep with the same dealer though if possible to hit the maximum discounts we can get.

I think I need one more post before I can PM anyone, so I figured I would just post it here. Other than the chrome rims, summit stitching, headlamp washers and HK stereo, is there anything else I am missing by getting the overland CRD with the advanced technology group and not the summit?

Thanks,

John

Summit gets its own wood trim, and you can't get the off-road stuff found on the Overland (but it doesn't look like you want that).

Welcome aboard, John, thanks for joining.

Hi BigWave,

Seems the system doesn't allow me to use the PM function. If you don't mind could you PM your email address to me? Then I will send you my contact information and the build of the truck.

Thanks.

Now that you've posted a few times, you should be able to PM, do you see the link at the top right of a page?

All of this sounds good to me. Looks like everyone will benefit from either dealership. I PMed bigwave with my email address. I think it would be worth it to start an email chain with everyone interested and get it out to the dealers as well. This would give everyone the chance to see the document created by the dealer and let them see who all is on the list.

A $500 non-refundable deposit makes sense and is fair. It might even be possible to have that $500 carry over to another vehicle if someone decides they don't like the 14s. Either way, the dealer will be selling a car.

For those doing the leg work with the dealers, thanks for putting in the time and working on this.

Below is a list of what I think should be in the dealer-group buy agreement.

Group:
-name
-email
-phone number
-model/options interested in (with a note stating that each vehicle is subject to change, this should give the dealer an idea of what we are looking for)
-expected purchase/order date

Dealer:
-percentage discount at each tier of number of buyers
-list of invoice prices for each trim level and option
-description of non-refundable deposit
-description of how/when discounts will be applied since there will likely be different ordering dates
-list of additional fees (taxes, transportation, dealers fee, etc)

That's all I can think of for now. Anyone think of something else? Once the document is put together we will have something to circulate via email.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Trying to get some clarification on the time frame to make a purchase if I were to join the group buy. I hadn't gotten in on this group buy before because I am not going to be ready to purchase until probably sometime this summer. So when Koons says there is no time limit, as long as 2014 are available to order, does this essentially mean that you could purchase a 2014 GC anytime (before 2015 or when 2015 models replace 2014's) and still get the deal for 7% (or whatever the final number comes to)? Just want to make sure I am on the same page.

Good Job guys, the deal is getting better, will be back in town next week and ready to order. Hope we have enough to make it up to the 10. Thanks!

Re: DC metro area group buy

So it sounds like BigWave is going to confirm whether Farrish can beat the 7% under invoice offer from Koons. I agree with the earlier point that we probably need to select a deal and move forward (esp. for those ready to order now), so this probably sounds like the last round of negotiations.

In the meantime, I like the idea of moving forward via email, so that we can all be cc'd on communications with the Sales Mgr (whoever we choose) and all be on the same page about the details of any deal. Also, this way we can avoid sharing his letter online (per his request). If you are interested and haven't done so, can you please PM myself or BigWave the following:

Contact Info (Email, Phone)
Description of Model/Trim interested in ordering
Ordering Timeframe

Thanks!
