Re: DC metro area group buy

Been lurking here a while and ready to buy off the lot or order. I will be participating in the DC group buy but I also have a '04 Wrangler Unlimited with 29k miles I would like to trade. Is there any benefit to doing this? Thanks

You will probably get low-balled on the trade-in value. If you can, keep the Wrangler. LJs are awesome.

I was trying to work a deal closer to me. They did give me 12k for my trade and the sales manager said he would call the district manager to see if he could get me 5% below invoice as part of an affiliate program but didn't change the trade amount. He came back and said he couldn't even do friends and family. I brought up that I could get 1% thru Tread Lightly which he agreed. I even offered to pay for the transfer since they didn't have the GC. Needless to say, we shook hands and I walked out. Are any of you who participated in the group buy concerned about loosing the ability to go back to the purchasing dealer for servicing and resolving problems(assuming you live far away)? Since there have been many issues with the truck, I would think that maybe having an advocate in your salesman could help in the service department??? I know I can get service anywhere buy just didn't know if you loose some of that "clout".

I tried to buy locally. There is a Jeep dealer two miles from my house. They couldn't get close to the price, so I bought from Nader. I've already been in for service at my local dealer. No issues.

I bought an early 2014 Overland from Nader in DC back in May, and I live near Chicago. I have not had any problems at all getting good service/recall work on the Overland from the local Jeep dealer.

My early '14 Grand Cherokee has had the N58 recall (reprogram instrument cluster/ABS; alternator ground wire); several flash software upgrades; and the local dealer had to pull the old Radio/Nav unit and replace it with new. They treated me like I was one of their "regular" customers, and never suggested that I was going to get less than a high standard of attention. The service manager even rearranged some technician work hours so I could get my Jeep back in time for a family ski trip out to Colorado in December. Gave me a free oil/filter change and some free car washes, I think because I was not bitching about the N58 recall. So, I have been very happy, so far, with how the Jeep dealer network has stood behind my purchase of a 2014 JGC. I love the Overland and, 8 months later, I do not regret saving a little over $2,000 by buying from the DC dealer.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Also wanted to add, i picked mine up from Nadar back in May and have been totally happy with the experience from flying down from NY to pick it up. I even got a birthday card in the mail from him the other day lol. Good guy and experience.

I can't speak for the Jeep world, but I purchased my current car from a dealer in California, picked the car up in South Carolina and now have it serviced at my local dealer in Columbus, OH and they have been great. It is still business for them, and I don't think I have ever felt the need to go back to my salesman after buying a car for support in the repair/maintenance department. The service team is still working for the dealership who is hoping for your possible future business.
