Yeah for whatever reason, leasing is a bit of a different animal at Koons. You definitely have to do more negotiating if you want your monthly payment to be reasonable. I was just working with Nader and finalized my lease deal on a Overland Diesel that was in transit, but it was not as easy as the OTD group pricing if you were to buy. It might also have to do with the fact that Thomas, the sales manager running the group buy wasn't in today.

Re: DC metro area group buy

I tried to explain to Nader that I'm getting a significantly better deal locally on a lease (albeit for a slightly different package) but he and Thomas couldn't do much on a lease deal (I'm not quite sure why). But if I was to buy it, the price can't be beat. Nader makes the experience fantastic, he is extremely helpful.

One of the problems is that they don't have too many limiteds in stock, to compare to the cars in NY, so that the price is apples to apples. They can't give a lease price on a car that's factory ordered (neither can any dealer)nor are they willing to swap with another dealer

Just out of curiosity, what is everyone getting for lease deals? Please include your trim and options if you can. I want to see if the deal I struck with Koons is any good.

I got 2 local leasing companies quoting me $405 on a limited with a sunroof and navi, with $900 due at signing. Or $475 per month on a limited with lux II and 20" rims, with $1000 due at signing. 10k miles, 36 months

If the packages are different (i.e. one is a limited and one is a overland) then that would account for the difference. Im sure if you had 2 identically equipped vehicles then the lease prices at koons would be significantly lower. While they will not quote you lease prices on an ordered vehicle I doubt chrysler financial would significantly change the Money Factor/Residuals from month to month

Re: DC metro area group buy

Can someone explain the registration process for buying out of state from Nader? I'm residing in MD, so I understand I'm paying MD tax at purchase but do I need to do a MD inspection and VEIP before theyll give me hard tags?

I was comparing limited to limited.
Local deal - limited with lux2, 20" wheels and nav - $475 per month with $1000 at signing. Not sure of the price of the car, but I'm guessing around 42,000
Koons deal. Same car plus diesel - $670 (or around there) per month with $1000 out of pocket. Price of this car according to Nader was $38,242

Very state dependent... I had to get my hard tags before I could get my state inspection. Odd ball laws are different everywhere.

Form experience:
If you ask Koons they *SHOULD* have your car MD inspected. You would still get paper VA Tags at time of purchase and then one of two things will happen depending on the dealership:

1) You will pay the MD tax up front and Koons will handle the registration process and will mail the MD tags to you (Rosenthal Land Rover & Tysons Mercedes did this for me on previous purchases)
or
2) you will not pay tax at the time of purchase and instead will have to go to the MVA to register and pay taxes. At this time show your copy of the MD inspection and you will be issued MD Tags on the spot (when I bought my 1998 Grand Cherokee in 2002 I had to go this route).

Just talk to Nader and he/Koons should handle all of it for you. As far as VEIP -- you will do that in two years, not at time of purchase.

So i'm getting really close to placing my order through Nader for a limited and I was reading in another post that the Limiteds have been put on hold? Anyone else hear anything about this?

Just bought last Friday from Koons and I live in MD. The truck is VA. inspected and gets a temp. VA. tag along with a windshield sticker. The tax is 6.17%(.17% being a county tax or something like that). I didn't pay any other tax and there is no further inspections. They will send me my MD. plates and registration when they get them. Pretty easy.
