Read the fine print on the wow price about everything it does not include and will be added on

The WOW price is (deliberately) misleading. It presumes that the buyer is eligible for every possible dealer incentive—including customer loyalty, military, recent college graduate, etc. I doubt anyone is actually eligible for all of these, and many of us are not eligible for any of them. But if you are eligible you will get those discounts deducted from the group buy price, too.

In addition, the WOW price does not include destination and dealer fees, whereas those are calculated in the group buy price.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Thanks guys. Figured there was something. Also upon further reading the WOW prices "may" require financing through the manufacturer and "may not" be available with special financing. I interpret this to mean you may have to finance at standard rates and not any low promotional rates.

I forget the exact % but I think I'm close. Financing the deal through "their" choice profits them greatly to the tune of 1% ish of net vehicle only cost that is financed. The way it used to work was that since the Chrysler/Credit Capital rates were published they could not "mark" them up to recover profit given away with the "apparent" lower sale price. The private/local bank deals are normally not published (if that dealer employs a similar WOW pricing strategy) so if the bank gives the dealer a lower volume based rate of whatever, say 2.5% on a 36 mo. loan, then the dealer may get paid by the bank a % of what they "upsell" the loan rate for. Sounds sleezy but it's SOP and no different than a car dealer having a Dent Wizard dude on premise, whereby, the dealer gets 15% of the DW guys intake. Customer price would be lower if no additional "layer" existed.

We are in the era, esp in auto sales, of how well the dealer plays the financing interest rate game as being the difference between a successful dealership and one that is languishing.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Financing would seem to be part of the group buy as well. Has anybody done a Koons group buy paying cash? Koons won't do business in my state so folks here are out of luck. Something about their deal with Chrysler (finance) and the state's DMV processes don't work together. A cash deal works easily with the DMV's regulations, but a finance deal with a lien on the vehicle could be complex for an out of state dealer if they had to handle all the paperwork.

I paid cash, draft them the check that's it no hidden fees or anything like that. Easiest car I have ever bought.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Tried that. They flat out refuse to sell a car that is going to be registered in Massachusetts. Doesn't make any sense to me as I have bought other vehicles from Metro are dealers and registered them in MA without any problems.

Re: DC metro area group buy

That is strange. So there is some weirdness between a Virginia to Mass. sale. Did they say they absolutely would not do it or they just don't want to handle the DMV part of it? Maybe they would let you go to DMV and do that part of it if it cant be done from another state? Definitely sounds wacked to me.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Back in march this was discussed, and the member said then that Koons would take cash only for a Massachusetts resident. Here is the post

So I guess I'm not sure why they won't take a check...

Re: DC metro area group buy

Offered to show up with my Mass license plate (which we use as a temp here) and a check for them. All Mass requires Koons to do is write that license plate # on the certificate of origin of the new Jeep and sign a DMV form that I bring. Then I walk everything through my insurance company and then to the DMV. Do it all the time. Pretty simple. Even offered to send them the check to prepay when the vehicle hits their lot, do all the legwork and then fly down and pick it up. They have the money!! Still said no. There must be some kickback from Chrysler that takes time to get. Disappointing for certain that they refuse all reasonable efforts.

You have done it in other states before. Have you done it with Virginia before. Wonder if it is something unique to Virginia only? Sorry to hear that
