It states that you pay Invoice -7% + Tax, Title/Registration/Tags, $499 Dealer Processing Fee and $995 Destination. I actually caught this before I purchased and mentioned it to Phil however I just thought I calculated my numbers incorrectly.

In the end - I'm happy with what I paid however I told him that I though it was dishonest to phrase things they way they were. The invoice number they use to calculate the -7% includes the $995 destination fee.

I just want everyone else purchasing to be informed, calculate it when considering the full price.
Thanks for the heads up. I was considering heading out there from Michigan but not at 5% under invoice. Snofire has managed a back-up 4% if his original deal falls through.

Re: DC metro area group buy

This is why I recently asked if you guys were getting OTD pricing before buying/placing an order. Still a great deal, but very shady to not be upfront about the destination charge being twice. After talking with my local dealer sales manager, he is working to match any "deal" I can get. Good luck to all.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Invoice doesn't include the $995 destination fee so they flat out lied or at the very least deliberately misled with how they worded the deal. That really pisses me off...

Re: DC metro area group buy

FYI - The GM of the dealer has approved waiving the destination charge on all of the deals. They have made it all right. So we are truly getting 7% off invoice. They stepped up here.

"The invoice number they use to calculate the -7% includes the $995 destination fee."
-correct it does and then it is added back in a second time with the tax tags and processing.

I agree the final out the door number is what counts and what you need to be happy with in the end. It is still not a bad deal just not the great deal that it appeared to be. Its a deal you can probably cut by yourself with other dealers. I am just not very happy with the way they did this in stating 7%. Heading to Farrish this week will let you know how that goes.

Will they still honor this for the entire 2014 model year run for the Grand Cherokee which is an 18 month model year (like they said they would originally)?

Re: DC metro area group buy

That kind of sucks guys. I understand dealers want to make their money on the vehicles they sell but to pull something like this is good way to push sales away from their dealership. Even with that, you are still getting a great deal at 5%.

Edit: Maybe they finally realized the damage this might do with loss of sales knowing that this is on a forum. Making it right is the best way. If they do that, then I would still buy from them (sorry I'm not).

Re: DC metro area group buy

Does Chrysler or any auto manufacturer actually even charge dealers "destination fee". I think destination fee is just a money grab anyway. Dealers pay invoice. Invoice doesn't include destination. So I don't think dealers even pay destination to Chrysler.

Too much drama for my taste. Since I was going to drive from Atlanta - I'm out and will stick with our deal here. Good luck to all. Over and out.

Re: DC metro area group buy

So they are not charging an extra $995? To call it "destination" is false since the destination charge is supposed to be an actual cost incurred by the dealer. This is just an extra $995 for padding in top of the $499 they're getting. Totally BS. I hope this is all sorted out for real. I was planning on ordering whenever the CRD is available.

Re: DC metro area group buy

So if they are taking 1 of the $995 off, how are they going to adjust your payment (if you have one) or the sales tax (if they had that on it as well)? Seems they would owe you more than $995 now.
