LOL

I'll match your Koons with Ted Britt, Rosensteal and Pohanka.

Re: DC metro area group buy

I bought ours from Darcars in Silver Spring and it was a fine transaction. Coming from years of buying luxury cars I wouldn't say it was super awesome, but I was treated with respect, as a valued customer, and wasn't lied to as I was by Thomas @ Koons.

Bait and switch is what these guys do, they don't want a consumer who asks questions, they want a consumer who will come in and they can pull their scheme on.

I'm not someone who gangs up on dealers, if anything I get accused of being a dealer schill because I stick up for dealers because I have a lot of experience working with them and understand their point of view. No excuse for these guys though.

Anybody who is buying from them, beware. Get it all in writing...in triplicate.

Despite the great price, they did charge destination charge twice to the first few that bought until someone else looking to buy from them caught it and brought it to the attention of Koons and to this thread and finally we're able to prove they were charging twice, despite them denying it at first. They refunded the destination charge and tax to the two that had bought and found out they were charged an extra $995 plus tax when it was brought to Koons attention.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Koons tried to charge me destinantion twice in 2011. That must be normal procedure.

Re: DC metro area group buy

You all raise very valid points. I won't forget that the dealer/sales reps are in this to make money and there were issues we worked through in the beginning. Some people will be willing to work with the dealer. Others won't. I am getting reports that this group buy is competing against people unfamiliar with Jeep Garage and internet research (a.k.a. "walk-ins"), and that these walk-ins are competing with us for the attention of the folks we're working with at the dealer. Hey, it makes sense -- the uninitiated are paying more. If I'm the dealer, I will spend my time trying to make more money.

If you found this site and this gb, you've got a good head start to saving money. I've said it before -- a better deal eventually might be found and I hope you take adavantage of it if and when it can be arrived at. However, if other group buys on this site are to be believed (I think they can be), this gb is among the best if not the best. If you want to use it, PM me with your email address and I'll connect you with our reps at the dealer.

Here are a few suggestions and hope others who have already had success with the gb weigh in with thoughts to make it a better process for future participants:
-- acknowledge that the deal we struck this early in the model year is a good one;
-- if you are comfortable with it and pull the trigger on this deal, be patient as you work through the process. Unlike Amazon.com that can ship your order to you next day, this is a far more involved process that takes many pieces to talk to each of the others (dealer, factory, suppliers, Chevyboy, Marlon, etc);
-- when you connect with the sales rep, suggest a time you will be going in to meet him in person at the dealership;
-- When you speak with them, be ready with your desired options; and
-- be ready to put some time in to get your order in.

Buying a vehicle can be/is an unnerving ordeal -- lots of money on the line. Jeep Garage has given us a ton of information we, the consumers, have never before had this early in the process. We work hard for our money, don't want to part with more of it than we have to, and demand as transparent a buying experience as possible. That last part is the tough one. If you use the information JG and WK2Jeeps.com has provided, you will go in as a very informed consumer. I wish you luck. I hope you benefit from this gb.

If you are committed to buying and think you will benefit from our gb, PM me your email address.

And I'll raise you Lustine! I don't think I'd buy another car from them if my life depended on it. I had no problems at all with Thomas and Joe at Koons. We did the back and forth on my trade and all was good. I've never met one dealer, ever, who doesn't lowball a trade in the beginning. It's in their best interest to make as much money as they can.

Re: DC metro area group buy

I don't have a problem with people negotiating with me, or lowballing me, its part of the process. Its the lying and disrespect I take issue with.

In my case I was being charged twice for things, I was promised rebates that I didn't qualify for in a price quote and then being presented with financing options that obviously didn't include them and would not reconcile in my own calculations, and when I asked respectful questions about these items and issues and asked for quotes about leasing I was basically told to go f@ck myself by Thomas. Seeing that this is a similar situation to what others have posted in here completely unprompted by me, this is a trend with this dealership and this individual not an isolated incident.

The goal of my story is to tell people here to be careful. Make sure you get everything in writing from this dealer and this individual specifically, make sure you do your own math on the financing or leasing and be sure the numbers add up independently on your own. I bet those of you who are happy got screwed somewhere and you don't even know it. For me it was about $2,500 that they were hiding in the financing and not quoting in the sales price, they charged me twice for the destination, were quoting me a price including a military rebate I don't qualify for with no disclaimer (they obviously knew I did not qualify since they knew enough not to include it in the actual paperwork), among other fees that were not included in my "out the door pricing". This made their price quote look better than what other dealers were offering at the time, because their quotes were honest.

I would not do business with Koons. If you choose to, please be sure you are not getting screwed.

Wow glad to hear you admit that there are some dealers out there that are just scum! Trying to part you from your money any lying, cheatin, dishonorable way they can!

SW03ES weren't you the guy who always defended any and all dealers out there, all the time, every time?

Like you did in this thread; How to negotiate

Glad to see you have finally opened your eyes to the real world of car buying! Be gald you don't have to buy a car in NY where all dealers are scum like that!

Re: DC metro area group buy

Well, i don't know and I'm not getting a bad experience. Others have taken delivery of the same thing they ordered and price they were told.
Here is mine on order.
Overland + Hemi + Quadradrive II
invoice - 7%
43736 + 1954 (HEMI) + 708 (Quadradrive) + 995 destination fee
add together it's 47393 x .07 discount = 44075.49
Which is exactly what this says. Just sucks I have to pay NY taxes lol

But you need to add the $499 that they show at the bottom for processing fee. Very good deal still though.

It is added after, hence the 48k price after the discounts. Tax, title, fee all aren't part of the deal, just added in at the end.

Aren't you from NY?

Looks like they charged you sales tax on tags tittle & the processing fee??

Are you having them register, tittle, and get NY plates? What sales tax rate did you pay?

Why not get an in transit plate and register it yourself when you get home?<!-- / message -->
