Here is a suggestion some from out of area may want to try that may help save you some time. What I did was provide Tom all the specifics of the car that I wanted to trade. He then provided me a price range of what they would pay on the car dependent on its condition which they would evaluate once they saw it. So if your car is in absolute perfect condition and the top number they provide is no where in the ball park, this helps save the hassle and surprise in messing with it in conjunction with this group buy. If the numbers are reasonable then you may have some luck and worth a try negotiating.
I ran into the same thing with the trade, numbers were not close at all. I sold it on my own in 5 days for 80% more than their best number.

The day I picked up my Jeep the transaction with Nader went very smooth and well as I already knew the trade was not a part of it. Very good friendly transaction with no surprises.
So overall a few bumps along the way with the group buy process but in the end I am very happy with the truck I got and the price I paid for it at Koons.
Hope this helps some for those that are still buying

Clarifying: deal is good as long as the MY14s are being produced by the factory.

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss out on it by waiting too long. I should be ordering in the next couple of weeks.

He said, sometimes we are higher, sometimes they are higher but we will work with you to make the deal. So, I was fairly confident I'd be leaving in a new Overland.

25-mins later, Nader comes and tells me the offer.... $18,000. I was shocked. I had just come from Carmax who offered $24,000. Now, I knew there was a good chance there would be a difference, but $6k? So, when I told Nader that wouldn't work he said, well, go and sell your car to carmax and then come back and get the deal. Really? What happend to making it work? I could have saved myself a trip for an estimate like that. It was a long, sad journey home.

My popint to those with a trade, just be cautious. If you don't have a trade, the price offer of 7% below invoice - incentives + $499 processing/TTL is legit.

FWIW, I went into DARCAR, Rockville to look at a remianing 2013 Summit and they offered $24k for my e350. I walked because I wasn't sure if i'd move forward on the '14. The next day the SM texted me and offered another $1,000 for a total of $25k.
Did you get your deposit back? I'm wondering if the $500 deposit they require is refundable. Anyone know?

Bummer about the really low trade values. I'd be willing to accept about $1500 below fair market on my car because in tax and hassle savings, that'd be worth it. But any more than that and it's just a PITA. It also makes me question the value of this deal if a local dealer can't necessarily compete on price on the truck but can do even marginally better on the trade. If I could get $1500 more locally than from Koons, it means that the Koons deal is only 3% or so off invoice...I guess I'll have lots of time to decide what to do. :\

Re: DC metro area group buy

Torifle --I asked Tom if I could lock-in the price without making the $1,000 deposit because I was worried about the trade. He understood and said it was fine and that he wouldn't feel right taking my money without evaluating the trade. This was all part of our conversation where I revealed to him the VIN/make/model/miles/options on my trade which is why I thought I would be in good shape.

Agreed, I thought if carmax was at $24k they would come back with a hi-22/low-23 number which would have been acceptable, but a $6,000 difference was not cool. I was even more supried whenthey weren't willing to even discuss the trade value. It seemed to be take it or leave it. Shame too because Tom & Nader were both very nice. My thought is they weren't really interested in selling this vehicle to me at 7% under invoice because they are selling well enough on thier own.

I've since listed mine privately so we will see. If no one bites, I may just grab a 2013 because I have some rec'd some good pricies back from dealers as I have disclosed in the 2013 Jeep Deals thread. The other option would be to shop locally and use Tom's pricing e-mail as leverage in the negotiating process after my trade is evaluated. Obviously I am still deciding as I am not in a major hurry. My goal is to be be back in a Jeep by the Fall.

Re: DC metro area group buy

^^agreed. Be sure to mention the group buy. If it were me I'd ask for a copy of the buyers order via fax or e-mail prior to giving any credit card deposit.

Thanks guys. Emailed them my order tonight after closing and told them to call me tomorrow to finalize. That could be a problem given that I'm still deciding whether to get a fully loaded Overland (Granite/Beige) or a Summit (Granite or Deep Cherry Red/Brown). Oh well, I have until tomorrow to decide.

If you don't get a response tomorrow, give the rep a call on Friday or Sat.

Tough choice b/w trucks, but a good one to have.
