Re: DC metro area group buy

I spoke with Nader yesterday. Very nice man. He confirmed pricing was as published for the DC Metro group buy.
Unfortunately, they have the exact vehicle we want in stock but it is being driven by the owners daughter. I suggested that we would let him order us a similar vehicle ( Nader said wait time will be 5 to 6 weeks) but he is going to find what we want locally so we can beat the 7/1 sales tax increase in VA.
He also said that they had sold more than 30 cars because of the program and were very happy.

Thanks again to those who made this happen

Re: DC metro area group buy

Reading in other JG threads, some dealers have let people who ordered walk away from their order -- many have commented that dealers doing this b/c the trucks are selling well and won't have difficulty selling it. Did you sign anything saying you had to take delivery of what you ordered? Did you put a non-refundable deposit down? (Dealership we're working with will ask for $500 non-refundable deposit.)

When I spoke with the DC dealership they said I would have to place a new order with them (means waiting 6 weeks) and cancel the order with the dealer in PA. Does anyone have an alternative to this? I would just like to have the Jeep about to be made transferred to the DC dealer (assuming I can get the PA dealer to agree to it). Does anyone know if this is possible? or how to get it done? or ???
Again, this group has been great and any insight, advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: DC metro area group buy

Hi Bigwave,
I can walk away and get my $100 deposit back. That was the deal. i am thinking of trying to push the dealer for the 7% but highly doubt they will go for it. Sounds like I am going to be waiting another 6 weeks. But as the discount covers my sales taxes, that is a fair deal for 6 weeks...

Hi Bigwave -- count me as one more DC local interested in this group buy and ready to pull the trigger. If you don't mind passing on the info, would you please PM me or email me at dwmgym@gmail.com?

Many thanks to all for organizing! This appears to have been a huge success.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Would appreciate feedback from anyone that knows the answer... I am pricing out a 2014 overland and noticed when building the car on jeep.com that the Msrp is 46,990. However, when searching the dealer websites for inventory certain cars show a 200 higher Msrp while others don't, even for cars being sold at the same dealership. Any idea why?

Secondly, when pricing the overland with advanced tech package on jeep.com, I get to 48,685 for the Msrp. I have been quoted an Msrp by two dealers of 46,985 - 300 higher than what is shown on jeep.com and also 300 higher than what is shown as the Msrp when searching for new inventory.

Other than a dealer processing fee, which could explain my second question above, any ideas?

Thx.

Re: DC metro area group buy

Asmooth, There was a small price increase on certain things recently, (advance tech was one). It could be that the vehicles with the higher numbers hit the lot after the increase. i believe the increase was about 2 weeks ago. I know on the jeep I ordered i have the lower prices because of the deposit I put down.

I do not think that the prices on the wk2 site reflect the smaller increases.

V8 had a recent price increase. Check the window sticker if there are additional options-I think the CD player is a $195 option IIRC

Do you know what the price increase for the advance tech package is or did Milous change the invoice price already for it on the other page. We are planning to get it, but I have to make sure we are under a certain $ amount.

Thank you!

Re: DC metro area group buy

This message is to only relay MY PERSONAL thoughts and experience on the group buy. I have ZERO reason to doubt anyone here that they got the exact deal they say and frankly that is awesome.

First and most importantly to HUGE thank you to Bigwave and Chivalry. You guys rock!

I contacted the sales rep on the Jeep I am looking for. He stated to check his inventory and if not there they could order it. He specifically asked for my address (to calculate the correct tax for the out the door price). Also the exact specifications for the vehicle. I provided those to him and asked for a detail break down while providing him with a detailed break down on the numbers that I could see for invoice pricing.

Each email I got from him was a new email and contained no information from any prior emails (yellow flag to me). When the out the door price was sent, he listed the MSRP numbers (not invoice as I requested) and it was NOT broken down item for item as I requested (yellow flag number two). In addition no where in the new email that he started was there any mention of the specifics I had asked for (priced out or otherwise) (yellow flag number three). I know enough about contract law and email chains to know it is always harder to prove conversation (and thus a meeting of the minds) if the emails are not in a chain. So I emailed Nader, using his original chain, included what I had broken down with all of the specs in detail of what I was looking for. I specifically asked in that email for him to confirm the OTD price for those specs. In fact, i asked for it at the start of the email and end just so it was crystal clear what I was looking for as a reply. I went back through the numbers he provided me and actually found an over charge of tax by $75 ( not a big deal as it could be a simple math error ).

What I got back, as an answer (today), was in a new email, with none of the prior history in it. He answer did not say confirmed or even yes. It stated that he would be out of the office tomorrow and if I wanted to place the order to let him know today. This is a RED flag FOR ME.

This is an incredible offer and I was always taught if it is too good to be true, investigate, investigate investigate. And be willing to walk away if you get an eck feeling. Red flag for me is an eck feeling. Plus it will take 6 weeks to get here and the dealer close to me will have it in on Saturday. The dealership for this 7% deal I have heard is not so good to do trade ins with and my dealer is actually beating carsense/other dealers by $1000. On top of all that, the interest rates for 1.9% for 60 months may go away (probably will go up given interest rates are starting to tick up) within the 6 weeks.

All in all, that continuous disruption of email chains makes me feel uneasy as it does not show a meeting of the minds. I did the final math and the savings (assuming that the 7% off dealer gave me equal trade in) is less than $2,000. By the time i take a day off, travel there and back plus any addition interest I may pay due to increases, the potential for issues with my 2008 and waiting 6 more weeks, I can't say this is a deal for me.

Again thank you all, especially Bigwave and Chivalry. I only post this to let others know of my experience.
