Re: DC metro area group buy

I hate the "Finance Guy". It's obvious to most of us that he's the last line in the up-sell process. Squeeze in one or two things to grab back some of the savings we get.

Yeah but he will only get them if he's allowed to by the customer.

He literally replied, "No, you are not." After I told him no 3 or 4 more times, he got a call from his buddy about lunch, he said on the phone "I have a migraine now I need to eat but I cant, I'm with a customer" Then he handed my my license plates and said "Go find your dealer." That was the last I spoke to Andy.

If his head hurt that bad, he could have just listened to me the first time I said no. Then he wouldn't have to talk at me for another 35 min in his office.

The way he treated me, despite the fact that I was spending over 40K at his dealership, really started to bother me. He was by far the worst part of my buying experience.

Luckly, the sales managers were awesome.

The detail guys put a few scratches on the lift gate, and a small/shallow .5 inch cut in the dash. Koon buffed the scratches out and filled/sanded down the cut in the dash. The dash repair isn't perfect, but its close. They didnt even question it when I asked if they would take a look at them.
I am sorry your experience with Andy was disappointing. With your permission I would like to share your observations with the Sales Manager.The excitement of taking delivery of a Brand New vehicle can easily be tarnished by any thoughtless actions,and that of course reflects on the entire Dealership.

I have no problem if you'd like to share my experience. I'm willing to answer any other questions you might have as well. Despite my experience, the Group buy is still one of the best prices out there (even better than USAA), and there was little to no negation in the buying process... which is awesome. I'd recommend any member of this forum to go through this process for a new JGC.

Some of you act like you're surprised by the "finance guy". His job is to inform you and try to sell you extra warranties. My response to every thing was, "sure, I'll take a look at it" . Out in 1/2 hour. No negative attitudes on either side. It's not that hard.

It remains a very easy way to purchase a Jeep. Called/emailed Nader with my order. Got price. Waited with Milous' tracking. Got a great % rate on the loan. Drove home to Charlotte.

I am really sorry that you ran into this issue but agree the issue is small compared to the savings realized by using the group buy.

We picked up our Overland about a month ago at Koons and were in and out of the finance office in about 20 minutes. He showed me a brochure on the various warranties and I told him that I had researched the various plans but had not made up my mind as to which one I wanted to purchase.

He just handed me the brochure and told me to give them a call when I made a decision. We shook hands and left.
Either we had a different finance guy or he was having a bad day.

I hope you enjoy your Jeep as much as we have been enjoying our's

We aren't necessarily surprised just sharing our experiences with various finance people and situations.

Hey Tom, Thanks much for stepping in to offer passing on that feedback. That's appreciated. Everyone has an off day now and again but it helps to be reminded that handling it gracefully is the right way to go.

Tell Andy we all hope he's feeling better. Migraines can seriously suck.

Nearly 1000 posts -- not too shabby. We've had a lot of success. To those folks who are new to the GB, welcome. Take a look through the posts and you'll see we've experienced some growing pains which we worked through. Since our first successes, the JGC has become a very popular vehicle, and the dealership we're working with is one, if not the, highest volume dealers in the area. Please keep this in mind when working with them -- it could take some time for them to get back to you.

I offer up a few suggestions based off of my experience from the beginning:

1) please PM me your email address if you'd like to be connected with those we're working with. Other GBs faltered b/c the dealers they were working with got bombarded with inquiries and they weren't equipped to deal with it. In addition, we were asked to go only through a single rep who has been phenomenal to work with -- he's even come in on his days off to pick people up from the airport and train station. I certainly didn't expect that commitment;
2) remain patient, remember this isn't like an online purchase from Amazon -- there will be paperwork which the dealership has to prepare and they have to devote time to each purchase;
3) if the deal is something you're comfortable with, great, we think you'll like the end result. If you're not comfortable with it, thank you for your interest and good luck with your purchase.

I think you have to get a few posts under your belt ( 3 I think) them PM "BigWave". The above came from a post of his on page 83
