Re: Deal-Breaker The Seats

I like the seats. Be sure to adjust it just right.

Re: Deal-Breaker The Seats

As I sit here in my pebble grain leather Lazy Boy, I think that would be a great option. Please post pictures of your DIY swap of the seat.

Yes! I finally adjusted that on my Summit yesterday afternoon while on a 500-mile trip. What a difference.

Otherwise, I find the seats to be great, and my wife (who also has a 2014 (Limited) said she agrees.

Re: Deal-Breaker The Seats

Man, I just drove 2,000 plus miles in August (Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, Wyoming) and these are the BEST seats of anything I have owned. I'm not small or heavy, just in between, but the side bolsters are fine for me.

I like the firm seats
They are great short or long trips
For me deal breakers are the silly spare tyre size suppled to us in australia
Vast distances just stupid
The parking break also don't like it at all

I can see this in the beginning but I certainly know the Acadia seat breaks down a lot faster than the Durango (GC) seats from what I have seen. The seats in the Acadia are pretty cushy and contoured but the bottom flattens right our after about a year or so then it doesn't matter. The New pickups they have made the seat smaller again too (from GM) and I imagine they will feel nice and snug at first too but we will see if they have improved the long term support.

I was in a very bad car accident many years ago and there are a lot of vehicles that I cannot drive for extended periods of time due to some damage to my left knee and back. I found the Grand Cherokee/Durango seat required some extra adjustment to get it right but very likely they are more comfortable than many after the seats have been broken in.
Here was the review where they made the sitting on it not in it complaint about the seats right around 4:20. I kind of agree with them on that but I also think that after you sit on them for a few months they soften up and are fine.

Re: Deal-Breaker The Seats

I'm 5'9" and 240lb, with a fairly defective spine. I'm quite happy with the seats in my Overland, in fact when I drove to Carlisle this year (before I had even gotten used to the new WK2) I didn't bother stopping at a few of my usual "get out and stretch" stops.

For me the bolster depth and width seem pretty good.

The biggest complaint I can come up with on the left-front seat is that if you do a technically hard launch with the 5.7L, you get pushed back hard enough to be able to feel some of the internal seat mechanisms with your back

Re: Deal-Breaker The Seats

I (well, Metro Credit Union) own/s a '13 Overland...at first I thought the seats were too hard and too narrow, although I loved the look of the Saddle interior. I also felt like the left side of my a** was sitting on the side part of the seat even though I am only 5'11" 185 lbs. I was very disappointed with this at first, BUT as you find the right seat setting (make sure the front is angled up enough to support your thighs) it gets better. Also, as the leather softens and loosens up a bit the seat will widen and I have found it to become extremely comfortable (after approx 1-2 months, for nappa leather seats).

Ultimately I think it's similar to new boots or a new baseball glove. The leather is stiff and not conformed to your body, but with time, it starts to take shape, and look and feel so much better. So this is just my experience, but I wanted to share because you shouldn't let that stop you from purchasing the vehicle.

Good luck!
