Dealer Bait & Switch

My 11th car I am leasing/purchasing in my life and I've never heard this one lol...

I get a deal all squared up on the 2011 Laredo X with NAV...guy calls me today and says all of a sudden that lease through GMAC disappeared and is no longer available so we have to use US Bank Corp and it went up $110 per month...I am beside myself right now I basically hung up on the guy.

Is this even possible???

Re: Dealer Bait & Switch

that seems pretty shifty. Walk away and go to another dealership that will treat you right.

Yea very shifty...I immediately called another place in my area and got quoted a deal over the phone that is $7 bucks a month cheaper than the original deal was at the first place.

Re: Dealer Bait & Switch

call the guy back, politely tell him you dont appreciate him trying to rip you off get his name so you can write to the jeep headquaters, (i did this when i bought my brother the new civics) and then tell him the better business bureau will have a compliant filed for his ethnics.
when i wrote the letter to honda about how they tried to screw me, they took off 5grand and fired the salesman for trying to steal money from me. got a brand new honda 2010 for about 12 grand 13 grand.

Sigh, no, they renamed themselves. GMAC is now known as Ally Bank.

Yea I read about this a few weeks ago when I was looking into financing through GMAC AKA ALLY. Not sure when they switched names. Most dealers just say GMAC still

GMAC Bank rebranded itself as "Ally" bank about a year and a half ago (I have an online money market account with them, so I remember the switch.) Not sure why, but my hunch would be to distance themselves from the whole GM bankruptcy thing.

You misread what OP said - his new "deal" was $110/month more than his old deal.
