Dealer fees...

How much did every get charged for "dealer fees" when purchasing?

Re: Dealer fees...

Dealer fees are what you make of them. They are just more ways for the dealership to make a profit. Every vehicle I have ever bought I do my research and decide on what the max I am willing to pay. The dealer can put all the fees they want on that, I don't care, as long as they meet or beat the price I am after. Heck, my wk2 I bought a few weeks ago had some "environmental fee" and a "region adjusted" fee which added $1300 to the sticker plus the famous doc fee of $399. That made my Laredo over 36K but I bought it for under 31k.

Re: Dealer fees...

Agreed, all that matters is final price. I could care less about the monthly payments (as I set up my own financing), doc fees, dealer add-ons, etc.

Re: Dealer fees...

Exactly: After research and initial negotiation, I gave the dealer an "out the door" cash/no trade offer on the one I drove and they met it. Did not go for the throat, have to keep kine fed, but just a few benjamins difference.

Re: Dealer fees...

Remember when Honda Accords were the "must have" car? Some dealers had a fee on the sticker called ADP. Turned out ADP was short for...

Additional Dealer Profit.

Re: Dealer fees...

My deal had a $125 processing fee and I was just wondering if that was excessive to make some money since I got a good deal. Thanks for the replies!

Re: Dealer fees...

I just paid $299 for the "Doc" Fee. They claimed it was preprinted on the forms and that it had to be there by state law!!! Eventually I got them to admit it was just extra dealer profit.
