Dealer fees are what you make of them. They are just more ways for the dealership to make a profit. Every vehicle I have ever bought I do my research and decide on what the max I am willing to pay. The dealer can put all the fees they want on that, I don't care, as long as they meet or beat the price I am after. Heck, my wk2 I bought a few weeks ago had some "environmental fee" and a "region adjusted" fee which added $1300 to the sticker plus the famous doc fee of $399. That made my Laredo over 36K but I bought it for under 31k.
Exactly: After research and initial negotiation, I gave the dealer an "out the door" cash/no trade offer on the one I drove and they met it. Did not go for the throat, have to keep kine fed, but just a few benjamins difference.
