I could be wrong, but I thought I heard that one can turn off the feature...not that I would turn it off, personally.

Not sure if you had a car with start/stop but it's horrible to hear the engine start after each stop. I tried it for a week and after concluding that it does more bad than good I disabled the feature permanently.
Start/Stop is not to be confused with Auto Hold which holds the vehicle in place when stopped at a traffic light allowing you to take your foot off the brake pedal.

Plug in hybrids have had this for a while with no hiccups. If it's a gas saving feature why is everyone condemning it?

If it can be disabled they need to advertise that fact. I know a lot of people who don't want it.

Re: Dealer Incentive reduction on 2015 HAs?

I wonder just how much fuel a start/stop system would really save on an otherwise unchanged motor? I know there is more to it like the emissions benefits, but from a fuel usage standpoint, a V6 idling at a light for 1 minute probably uses next to nothing. Interested to see what the 2016 V6 models are rated at for fuel economy.

I gained a fraction of a MPG in my car, totally not worth the weird feeling of the engine start at each stop light.

Re: Dealer Incentive reduction on 2015 HAs?

According to the 2016 Grand Cherokee owners manual (which you can download off the Jeep site) there's a button located between the park assist and eco mode buttons to disable the 3.6L start/stop feature.

Plus plenty of other info on how the whole system works.

Driving around suburbia like you and I do, I doubt there'd be any benefit to such an annoying feature. But for people in the greater Los Angeles metro, it probably helps a lot and for them it's probably a better feature than having to buy a Prius.
