dealer-installed nav?

Hey guys-

I know this is an 'ask the dealer' question but my dealership is closed today, and I need to figure this out asap...searched but didn't get any info.

Does anyone know if a car built w/the non-nav 430 head unit can have a nav unit (430 or 730) installed at the dealership?

Is the dash design/build compatible so it can just be swapped out, or does the non-nav dash have a different template?

Thanks!

Re: dealer-installed nav?

I don't know, but I suspect it has less to do with the template and more to do with installation of the antenna in the dash if it is not already there and the EVIC. Cheaper alternative is to do what I did with my fleet car... velco on the back of portable Garmin Nuvi and velco on the dash. Worked great for years over several cars.

Yes...the 430 to 430N swap takes about 10mins...plug and play. However, the head units are over $2K from parts and retailers. The 430 to 730N is not so straight forward. There is a thread in the audio section discussing that swap and I don't believe the member has been successful yet.

Re: dealer-installed nav?

The dealer down the street from me uses an aftermarket car stereo installer to do upgrades.

I've seen a Laredo with a Pioneer head unit. Sounded great and it's definitely an upgrade from the 430 or 730. (although where they placed the microphone left a bit to be desired)
